Good morning, friends!
Well, I am looking forward to tonight! Tonight the Moon will make harmonious aspects to Neptune and Pluto while transitioning from the intense sign of Scorpio into the wise sign of Sagittarius—you all know, I love a Sagittarius Moon. On the way there, could be a bit challenging, though, as the Moon finishing in Scorpio has to oppose the very potent Mars/Uranus/Algol conjunction that is still in effect, so I think today things may get a bit more personal.
We saw a very public representation of this transit over the weekend with the shooting attempt on the former President. Some of you have already experienced personal things that are an expression of this archetypal combination (one of my friends told me that a tree stabbed itself through a friend of hers house! And the last Mars/Uranus conjunction in 2022, uprotted a tree in her own backyard!), but if you haven’t noticed this combo in your own life, it may very well get closer to home, so continue to be diligent and safe out there! In other words, don’t think this transit is done delivering its fate—it’s not time to drop the ball!
The good news is, as I said, the Moon will make some harmonious aspects that can really support our abilities to handle whatever craziness is thrown our way, so stay calm; there is light at the end of this tunnel.
Okay, let’s get into…the astrology
Today’s Transits
Late last night at 12:44 am ET the Moon in Scorpio made a trine (120°) to Saturn in Pisces retrograde indicating an ease at which we may have felt serious about something or someone and our ability to be responsible and mature with our feelings.
Early this morning at 2:59 am the Scorpio Moon formed a square (90°) to Mercury in Leo meaning that there may be some struggle, strife, and conflict today that makes having easy, flowing communications hard. Maybe you woke up on the wrong side of the bed or maybe you have so much to say and you come off a bit bossy, rubbing people the wrong way. When the Moon squares Mercury we need to be more conscientious of how we are communicating with those around us because it is easy to be too much, too forceful, too loud, or too dramatic with this transit. So, use your powers of diplomacy and try to listen more than you speak today.
By mid-morning at 11:04 am the Moon in the watery sign of Scorpio will perfect at trine (120°) to the watery sign of Cancer. This is a harmonious aspect that is said to be the nature of Jupiter and so it brings things together easily and effortlessly. This is great news because the Moon is about to go through some hard aspects to Mars and Uranus today, who are still engaged in their conjunction to each other. The lights being in harmony means that although there may be chaos, pain, and struggle today, emotionally we are in alignment with our purpose and we can tap into our deep emotions and find a sense of peace.
Forty minutes later the Moon makes frustrating aspects to the nodes meaning that we may try and push certain agendas through, but will hit some limits, roadblocks, or obstacles in our way that we have to clear out before we can proceed along our paths. This is always the case, isn’t it, where we have a goal in mind, a destination, but we have to do “x,y,z” before we can get there? Such is life. Oftentimes, the things we have to clear out and process are actually the reason we are going on the journey in the first place—when we look back in retrospect it’s not always about where we ended up but about what we learned along the way.
In the afternoon at 2:30 pm and then at 4:05 pm the Moon in Scorpio forms oppositions, first to Uranus, then the fixed star Algol, the demon star, and then to Mars, all in Taurus.
I forgot to mention yesterday, in my excitement to share with you all the maps and charts, that the conjunction of Mars and Uranus was also on the fixed star Algol.
Thought to be the most malefic star in the heavens, Algol is located in the constellation, Perseus, and is said to be the blinking eye of the Medusa. In the myth of Perseus and Medusa, Perseus cuts off Medusa’s head and then uses the head to turn his enemies into stone. Algol is associated with beheadings and a “strong, consuming passion,” says astrologer Bernadette Brady in Brady’s Book of Fixed Stars (1998), that “has the potential to be wonderful or, if repressed, to lead to rage or violence.”1
The Moon opposing this trio could be very challenging. One, the Moon is in Scorpio, a sign that experiences everything on a very deep, emotional, and psychic level, second, the opposition is the hardest aspect in astrology and means a standstill, an ultimatum, or a duel between the opposing forces and usually requires one side to back down and allow the other to pass—it’s like being confronted on the path by someone stepping in front of you, and in this case it is a fiery bull carrying the head of a gorgon, with a wild, untamed look in his eye! And you have to deal with this strange beast in one way or another before you can carry on!
So, an opposition between the Moon, which governs our emotions, our feelings, and our bodies, and can also represent the mother, family, marriage, or the group in general is standing off with Mars, Uranus, and Algol, which together mean revolutionary change or disruption through some sort of assertive, aggressive, wild, untamed means—the only thing that will soften this experience is the fact that the Moon is in Scorpio, the traditional sign ruled by Mars, and Mars is in Taurus, the sign of the Moon’s exaltation, so this means that both the Moon and Mars have an affection for each other—astrologers call this a mutual reception—and this will soften the encounter and make both parties more forgiving. The fact that Uranus is involved with this opposition may throw a wild card into the mix, and there could be some sort of unexpected twist involved.
So, what we need to remember is, to do our best to remain calm and keep our cool when we are facing whatever curve ball this represents today…and of course be very, very careful where we direct our eyes, so we don’t get turned to stone! (This is of course not literal, just some tongue in cheek).
This evening is cooler, and less combustible. Between 9:10 pm and 11:19 pm ET the Moon in Scorpio will first trine (120°) Neptune in Pisces retrograde, then she will ingress into the hopeful sign of Sagittarius at 9:24 pm, and finally, the Sagittarius Moon will form a sextile to Pluto in Aquarius retrograde.
This little dance could feel like jumping in the lake after a long hot day. You made it past the fiery bull holding the snaky woman’s head. The water cools you off and you feel calm, peaceful, and like you are washing the hard crusty parts of the day off your skin. With this sort of “cleansing,” you begin to feel refreshed like you have spiritually molted and now you feel lighter, brighter, and restored. There are still truthful feelings coming up but you are more able to handle them because you took a swim in the lake of hope and optimism. You emerge from the water revived, invigorated, and a bit wiser having dealt with the challenges you faced. You are awake and ready to keep on keeping on. You got this.
