Don't Freak Out, But There's Strippers in the Garden Today...
Daily Horoscope for Monday, June 20, 2022
Over the weekend the Japanese beetles came out. If you don’t know what devastation these pretty little beetles can do to a garden, that’s good- but if you do, then you know the horror in that sentence! Medium in size with a beautiful iridescent green and gold coloring, these beetles can devour the leaves and flowers on a plant, leaving them stripped, like a skeleton in just a few days! They like to mate in the crooks of the leaves and in between the petals of the flowers. And they LOVE roses! Which is where I found them…fornicating in between the petals of my roses, like hippies in the ‘Summer of Love’!
Thankfully, I had a plan…last year these same pests showed up and I didn’t know what they were or the danger my beautiful Queen Elizabeth roses were in upon their arrival. They were so pretty, their iridescence sparkling in the sun like sunlight sparkles on the surface of the ocean. So, naturally, I looked them up and discovered the carnage that they are capable of, and a method with which to deal with them: soapy water in a jar. Yep, that’s right, I made a jar of soapy water to drop them into and help them onto their next lives. It was seriously the most compassionate thing I could do.
So, this weekend, when I found them eating away all the leaves and petals on my roses, I made the jar, caught as many as I could, and wished them well in their next lives. No remorse. No second-guessing my actions. I knew what I valued: my roses, and what I needed to get rid of: these little destroyers.
Now, why am I talking about bugs in the garden in an astrology newsletter? Simple. Astrology is full of symbolic meaning. It’s a language that speaks through metaphor, offering signs and omens along our path. These “bugs” showing up in my garden are symbolically like the “bugs” that are showing up in my life right now in the form of questions about what I value in my relationships, money, and my life. In what areas can I clean house and unremorsefully get rid of any “bugs” that are not serving me and actually only cause destruction where I want growth and beautiful flowers?
This weekend may have brought up a lot, with the Venus square Saturn transit that was going on, and you may have dealt with some of those “bugs.” But, the funny thing about these little pests is they keep coming back! Now that they have made themselves known, I have to check my garden every day and remove any that I see, or they will take over, and one day, like magic, I will walk outside to find all my lovely plants eaten down to stems. Reminds me of the snake that died in my backyard…remember the picture of it on the stump that I showed you all? Well, in just a few days, that snake was covered with flies, ants, and carrion beetles…and then one day, like magic, the snake was just gone! Either the beetles finished it off, or a bird carried it off, or some other animal, we don’t know… But, the point is that it looks like we have time, but we’re just not seeing each little bite as it’s happening, and then one day, poof! Gone!
Continue to take care of those things that came up over the weekend. Maintenance is key. Don’t let them proliferate until there’s no turning back. Now’s a good time to practice the Slight Edge theory.
Today we have the moon moving through the final degrees of Pisces, conjoining Neptune, making a sextile to Pluto, and then squaring the Sun at the final degree of Gemini. This could be intense because squares are when the Universe makes you take action on something that may be very uncomfortable and challenging, but in the long run, you know you’ll be better off for it. It’s not that I like killing bugs- just the opposite, I respect life and all living things- but I have to be different with these beetles because I know that what I value more are my roses, my herbs, and my vegetables. It’s hard to make these choices in our lives sometimes.
Thankfully, we have Mercury direct in Gemini to help us out, and Mars and Jupiter in Aries lending strength, motivation, and the ability to take action on things right now. Plus, Mercury is making a nice sextile to Jupiter today, so we are able to stay positive, think about the big picture, and apply good judgment!
Don’t waste this great energy because, as we move into summer— the Summer Solstice being tomorrow—there could be a lot of challenges and not a lot of forward-moving energy. So, these next couple of weeks are key to getting those balls in motion, or keeping the balls you’ve already started rolling, in motion!
Over the summer we are going to have three planets go retrograde: Neptune, Jupiter, and then Uranus. Mars enters Taurus on July 5th and doesn’t like being in this Earthy, slow energy. On top of this, at the beginning of August, Mars and Uranus make a conjunction in Taurus—this is BIG, and we will be talking about this as we get closer to these energies, but just be aware that August 1-7th may be full of surprises and revolutionary urges. It might be a good time to plan some time off or R&R because we may all need it!
Then, in mid-August, Mars enters Gemini, where he will retrograde in October and hang out for about 7 months, not leaving Gemini until March of 2023!
So, take care of those “bugs” in your life now. Don’t procrastinate!
Let’s pick a card for the day:
Queen of Wands—Reversed
The Queen of Wands describes a woman who knows who she is, authentically because she’s gone through the process of self-discovery and has discovered her powerful self. She also represents the Leos in your life and the Leo season coming up from mid-July through mid-August.
With this card turning up in the reversed position, it represents where we feel like we have not discovered our true selves and it is a reminder that we are always working on this: discovering, processing, and integrating who we are into our material existence and essence. This coming Leo season may mark a time of great importance on our paths this year—and looking at the transits that I just outlined above—I believe this to be true!
It’s a great time to ask yourself, “Where am I holding myself back from being my authentic self?”
“What old beliefs about myself, insecurities, and old traumas that are not serving me anymore, can I let go of?”
Have the courage to shine and show the world who you really are, fearlessly, unapologetically, and with confidence! Tap into the lion/lioness energy within.
I hope this was helpful!
Until tomorrow,
AstroMommy
