Without further ado, here is the daily horoscope.
Good morning, friends!
The news is crazy this morning! Reports of deaths, snake bites, car accidents, war, and even one about a supervolcano that could erupt “any day now!” Today’s stories have this upcoming transit written all over them.
Jupiter is less than 5° away from entering Taurus, upon which he will immediately square Pluto on May 16-17, 2023. Because Jupiter is so large, I believe we may start to feel the pressure of this big transit as the energy builds up over the next two and a half weeks. The sensationalism in the news this morning is certainly supporting this.
This square will come after the Lunar eclipse on May 5, and after Mercury stations direct on May 14—so, this is like a big exclamation point, of transformation after these other transits have finished.
Jupiter is the planet of expansion, abundance, wealth, and optimism and he symbolizes things happening on a grand scale and affecting large groups of people. Jupiter represents the religious and spiritual communities and the judicial system and therefore can symbolize priests, gurus, lawyers, judges, and even bankers, to name a few.
Pluto is the planet of transformation, death, and rebirth and represents immense wealth, power, control, and all things nuclear.
The square aspect is of the nature of Mars which means action, initiative, drive, conflict, and strife, among other things.
Some of the positive themes we can expect from this dynamic transit may be major life changes, huge transformations, understanding things deeply, and powerful leadership; on the negative side: intolerance, abuse of power, conflicts with authority, overindulgence, and explosions. It’s a powerful combination.
This is also the first square that Jupiter has made to Pluto since their conjunction in 2020, so it’s a big deal. Pluto is also slowing down to station retrograde on May 1st, as well.
We will be talking more about this transit as it gets closer to perfecting.
Okay, let’s get into… the astrology
Today the Moon is in Leo, a fun, exciting place for the moon full of loving feelings, gregariousness, and a youthful attitude. We may all be feeling like letting loose and having a good time! It could be easy to push aside the chores today and just have fun!
At 1:59 am ET, the Moon in Leo forms a sesquiquadrate to Neptune in Pisces and this could represent an area in life where you are feeling compassionate, sensitive, or even unrealistic. You may be looking at something with rose-colored glasses or escaping into something like a secret love affair with a movie star that will never come to be. Either way, enjoy your fantasy but stay in touch with reality.
Then at 5:43 am ET, the Moon in Leo makes a square to Mercury in Taurus retrograde and this may be one of the most challenging aspects of the day! Moon and Mercury retrograde in a square may bring about problems with communication like arguments and bickering, setbacks or delays with travel, and even mess with our ability to think straight.
Mercury retrograde in an aspect with the Moon brings it closer to home. With both planets in fixed signs, I would also caution that holding onto grudges or stubborn ideas today may be a bit more common. So, try to have grace with yourself and others, stay open-minded, and go with the flow.
Technology may be on the fritz, transportation systems may be unreliable, and scheduled appointments may need to be rescheduled. Definitely watch out for “bumps in the road” today!
This afternoon at 1:10 pm ET, the Moon in Leo forms a trine to Chiron in Aries and this may actually feel really good! We may finally feel like we are emotionally getting some “green lights” to go ahead and share our feelings and let it all out. The Leo Moon can be dramatic so my only caution about this harmonious aspect is to try to be sensitive to the feelings and needs of those around you if you are the one who gets up on the metaphorical stage and starts pouring your heart out!
Especially since the Moon in Leo will square Uranus in Taurus just a couple of hours after that at 3:25 pm ET, and this could mean unpredictable, unstable, and unexpected emotions! It could also mean sudden help from friends, popularity, or being caught by surprise about something. Again, it’s with the square aspect, which is the nature of Mars and so it represents something happening with a bit of labor, strife, and conflict—this unexpected surprise may feel jolting, uncomfortable, and shocking!
And finally, this evening the Moon in Leo forms a harmonious sextile to Venus in Gemini at 7:41 pm ET. This is a really nice way to end the day. There could be feelings of increased happiness, love, and affection. You may feel more social, likable, and cheerful. Nice Venusian things like money, food, clothes, romance, and chocolate could become more abundant as the night progresses and it could feel really good to hang out with friends, family, or lovers. So, enjoy a pleasant evening!

What is the guidance for today?
Ace of Pentacles--Reversed
On this card we see a hand coming out of a cloud, holding a gold coin. Below the hand is a flower garden and an archway, covered with blooming roses and a path going through. Beyond the opening are distant mountains.
In the upright position, the Ace of Pentacles means that there are profitable opportunities available for you and it is up to you to go through the archway to manifest them.
In the reversed position, the Ace of Pentacles means that you may be feeling hesitant about a potential new opportunity. It is important to trust your intuition here and not make any decisions until this hesitancy is fully explored.
Another meaning could be that a particular financial or material offering may not come through as expected and so you’ll want to wait until you actually have the money or physical item in hand before you spend it or use it.
This card coming up reversed could also indicate a loss of something material like wealth, possessions, or personal property.
