Good morning, friends!

Well, here we are on Friday with the New Moon in Cancer coming on Monday and this New Moon has many, many other aspects going on that make it a HUGE New Moon!  So, this weekend, as we reach the Balsamic Phase of the Moon’s cycle tonight, where she goes dark, we are asked to let go of the last month and do some preparatory work for this gigantic shift that is coming next week.  Not only are we having a New Moon in Cancer, which will bring in a new beginning into our personal lives surrounding the topics of home, family, and roots, but the Nodes are also shifting from Taurus and Scorpio into Aries and Libra, remember the Nodes move backward through the zodiac.  Once the Nodes shift into Aries and Libra they will square Pluto and Pluto will be at the Southern bending and this New Moon is only 5° away from the Northern bending, meaning that this New Moon/Nodal Shift symbolizes massive change and transformation and with Pluto, we’re talking about destroying something in order to build something—it’s regeneration through destruction—digging up the soil and turning it over in order to bring new life.  Pluto in Capricorn is exposing the traditions and structures and establishments in our lives that need to be redone, born-again and re-patterned.  It’s old programs that are no longer serving your long-term plan that is getting a re-set.  We will see this in the world at large with business, banking, education, medicine, real estate, and world economics.

In our personal lives, wherever Capricorn is in your chart, you may see a restructuring of the fundamentals of how you climb the mountain, how you succeed in your survival, and how fit you are mentally, emotionally, and physically.  I feel that this New Moon opposite Pluto with the Nodal Shift will represent a change we will see over the next 18 months while the Nodes are in Aries and Libra, forcing us to transform our identities and let go of our co-dependencies and judgements. There is also a beautiful energy of support from Jupiter in Taurus with this New Moon urging us to continue to nurture and care for those things in our lives that we are trying to build and grow because once Jupiter conjoins Uranus, we may see a massive explosion of prosperity, growth, and abundance!  This New Moon exalts Jupiter as Jupiter is exalted in Cancer and is in a mutual reception with the Moon by whole sign since the Moon is exalted in Taurus, and we may see our fortunes change over the next 18 months; life could look very different.

So, this weekend is about getting ready for this transformation.  Take the time to clean things out, tidy things up, and relax in your preparations for this shift.  I’ll be talking more about this over the weekend, so if you’re not a paid subscriber and have access to the weekend reports yet, I encourage you to do so, as we will be exploring this dark moon/Astro-prepper energy even more through a three-card spread exploring the aspiration, the obstacle, and how to overcome it in the weekend report.

This is a “Spider-Man being bitten by a radioactive spider” kind of New Moon! So, imagine if Peter Parker had known the bite was coming, what would he have done to prepare?

Okay, let’s get into… the astrology

The Moon will be in Gemini all day on Friday.  The Gemini moon is curious, fickle, and youthful, desiring social interactions that are fun and interesting.

In the early morning at 3:43 am ET on Friday, the Sun in Cancer forms a sesquiquadrate, a 135° angle to Saturn in Pisces symbolizing some stress from feeling a little stuck, or like your efforts are thwarted at every turn.  It’s like you’re driving along trying to get from point A to point B and you keep coming up on road work that makes you stop and go at a snail’s pace—which is super frustrating because you want to go, go, go!  But, this is teaching you patience as you must remember that steady application of effort is usually a winning tactic.  Be patient.

The Moon at 6:45 am ET makes a sesquiquadrate to Pluto in Capricorn and this may feel even more exasperating because this transit represents getting in touch with the part of yourself that is going through a metamorphosis, but it’s aggravating because what is coming up is like a little annoying dog trying to bite you!  You may be doing your best to ignore it, but at some point, you will have to confront the dog and assert yourself (we can see this with the upcoming Moon opposite Pluto which will be perfecting right after the New Moon on Monday!).  If you can, it may be a good idea to start the shadow work now, so that when the shit hits the fan emotionally on Monday, you’ve already done a ton of healing work and you are ready!

Then at 9:17 am ET, the Moon in Gemini forms stressful aspects to the Nodes, a semisquare, a 45° angle to the North Node in Taurus, and a sesquiquadrate to the South Node in Scorpio.  The Nodes are super close to shifting back into Aries and Libra, as I said in the opening for this horoscope, which will happen on Monday right after the New Moon!  The Moon making these aspects to the Nodes is inviting us to prepare for this major upcoming shift.  This weekend is a really good time to get clear on what you’re thinking about, building toward, and transforming within your psyche and in your environment.

At 11:16 am ET Mercury in Leo perfects a quincunx, a 150° angle, to Saturn in Pisces which symbolizes a lack of concentration or direction for what we want to say.  We may feel apathetic toward a limitation or a restriction and feel like it doesn’t matter, what we do won’t have any effect, but that is not true!  What we do absolutely does matter and we need to take this quincunx energy and talk about the change, take responsibility for the shift, and express how we are feeling.  This could be through writing, poetry, music, or having a good conversation, but with Mercury in Leo, apathy is not the answer, expression, creativity, and having fun are!  So as much as this upcoming weekend is about getting prepared for the changes that are about to noticeably occur, it’s also about being creative and expressing who you are that says to hell with all the depressive, melancholic “blah!” energy of Saturn right now!  We need to prepare our hearts as well and that only happens through love, laughter, joy, and gratitude.

The day gets much easier in the evening when the Moon makes a sextile, a 60° angle to Chiron in Aries at 5:36 pm and then the Sun perfects a sextile to Uranus in Taurus at 7:02 pm ET.

The sextile is a harmonious aspect of opportunity that in traditional astrology is said to be the nature of Venus, so the Moon sextile Chiron is about recognizing your worth and value even amidst your imperfections and realizing that you have many beautiful attributes.  Chiron represents our wounds, our vulnerabilities, and that part of ourselves that feels different and needs to be healed on the deepest level—the Moon in Gemini is bringing some new information to Chiron that offers a form of mental support and positivity.

The Sun in a sextile to Uranus speaks to something exciting, unexpected, and surprising to pop out of nowhere and give us a little nudge of hope, direction, and motivation!  It’s the sudden flash of light as the lightning illuminates the sky and for a moment you are able to see the path ahead.  It’s having a profound original thought that makes everything make sense; it’s the burst of creativity that starts an avalanche of amazing ideas; it’s meeting someone new in a random place that presents a prospect you didn’t expect; it’s the moment you say “Yes!” and a door opens you didn’t even know was there; it’s the wild turn of your career, homelife, or circumstances that creates some sort of unanticipated solution.  So, we can look forward to a future promise presenting itself on Friday night that we have the power to take advantage of or not.

This energy started building up as soon as the Sun entered the 3-degree range of engagement last Wednesday and will stay in this range until Tuesday of next week, so that’s six days to be on the lookout for unforeseen doors of opportunity to open to you!

I love that this energy will be around during this New Moon on Monday because it means that whatever change we are all about to go through, it has a doorway that may appear without notice—some unique fortune coming in that will help ease the transition, even though it may be wild, crazy, or unheard of at the moment.  It’s potential energy and you have to play to win, so don’t give up!

Let’s move on to the card for the day:

What is the guidance for today?

Nine of Wands-Reversed

On this card, we see a man, a bandage across his head, holding a wand upright.  He is standing on the floor in front of eight wands forming a wall behind him.  Beyond that are massive clouds.

The Nine of Wands is about having courage and resilience.  Standing your ground and guarding that which you’ve fought hard for.  The clouds beyond the wall of Wands represent that there are still challenges ahead, but they are not as dark and dire as they could be or maybe they’ve been in the past.  Even though the man on the card is injured, he has still shown up for his shift on the wall—representing a toughness, an inner strength, even when exhausted and hurt. The Nines in the Tarot represent a final transition point, test of character, or challenge before reaching the completion of one’s journey.

In the reversed position, the Nine of Wands symbolizes a time when you may be feeling really overwhelmed, tired, and battered.  You have been facing challenge after challenge and life just seems to be kicking your ass!  Instead of looking outside of yourself for resources, this card in the reversed position represents looking inward for support.  It is your own inner strength, courage, and guidance that will get you through this tough time.  If this seems too hard then it may be wise to seek counsel, or therapy to help you make it through.

The Nine of Wands correlates to the Moon in Sagittarius in the second decan of Sagittarius, so this is a time when your faith will be tested—in the reversed position this could literally be faith in yourself.  Use positive self-talk, affirmations, and meditation to hold onto the bigger picture and fill your cup up with positivity, but not toxic positivity—keep it realistic and healthy!  This is about keeping the faith, staying hopeful, and continuing to dream big, even when you’re tired, wounded, and spiritually done with the whole thing, yes, but it’s also about being realistic and logical.  You’re almost at the finish line in regards to something and there’s just a bit of powering through that still needs to happen--the power to keep going is found within—don’t give up!
