Without further ado, here is the daily horoscope.

Good morning, friends!

Well, I am happy to report that we finally got all the kinks worked out with the zodiac patch designs and now, all 12 zodiac patches are available in the family Etsy Shop!  Each one was designed by my very talented daughter, Kaliandra, the PieQuarius.  This is so exciting because we’ve been working on them for a while now!  Just in time for the holidays, too!   They make great stocking stuffers or presents for people who love to put patches on things!  You can iron them on, or sew or pin them onto jackets, backpacks, jeans--whatever you’d like!

Here is the Sagittarius one, below, which of course is one of my favorites! (Since I am a Sagittarius and my birthday is only 16 days away!)  So, please check them out!

Okay, let’s get into… the astrology

Well, today is a heavy day.  Last night Mercury perfected his square to Saturn at 3:51 am ET and tomorrow the Sun perfects his square to Saturn at 4:03 am ET, but the exact times don’t really matter because the Sun is square Saturn by degree today, both being at 18°.  This energy is really heavy, intense, and very challenging.

The Moon is also going through many aspects today, including a sesquiquadrate to Pluto, a sextile to Chiron, a quincunx to the Sun, and a trine to Saturn and then by early tomorrow morning the Moon will square Neptune and conjoin Mars in Gemini…so, this is a heavy day.

Let’s unpack this a bit…

The Moon governs our emotions and she is going through a lot today: She starts out with deep frustrations and feeling separated from her purpose and then gets the go-ahead from Saturn to make a commitment to an action that intuitively feels right and this will hopefully fuel emotional healing of her identity.

Moving on to the squares with Saturn…

Saturn is the planet that is associated with the Grim Reaper and Father Time.  He brings restriction, limits, hardship, challenges, and tests, and his function is to regulate, create structure, solidify and harden things.  He is a cold, dry planet; the furthest one we can see with our naked eye.  He is melancholic and rules the humor of black bile, which is simply put, the waste products of the body.  He calcifies, crystalizes, and inhibits.

When another planet makes contact with Saturn it brings in harsh realities, limitations, and the feeling of being checked by an authority figure.   Saturn can represent authority figures, father’s in a night chart, and/or an older, serious, and more experienced person.

So, Mercury and the Sun making a square to Saturn is no light transit.

Mercury was called the Master of Arguments, the quick, winged messenger of the gods, and he brings rational thoughts, information, and news.  Mercury rules over words, news, communication, and language.  He also governs short distant travel since he is able to go from our world to the Underworld and back with ease.  He is a magician in the sense that he has both the qualities of being wet and slippery as well as dry—these traits contribute to his cleverness, wit, and curiosity.

When Mercury is involved in a transit we can expect news, announcements, and changes to our environment.  There is often information regarding local travel, including cars, trucks, buses, and bikes.  Mercury also represents young people, especially students, thieves, and tricksters.

The Sun is the giver of life, the “noetic light,” and the King of our solar system.  He represents vitality, spirit, honor, the father in a day chart, and major illumination.  The Sun enlivens, shines a light on, and strengthens, but also may block out the light of other planets when they are too close to his mighty rays.  The Sun is hot, dry, and choleric, and we can both be warmed by his light and also dried out and exhausted by too much.  The Sun’s energy is that of a leader, with courage, self-esteem, and incredible influence, which is why it often signifies Presidents, Kings, and Queens.

When the Sun is involved in a transit we can expect situations involving people of high authority or prestige in our lives to be illuminated.

So, putting all these characteristics together in a square aspect adds the energy of Mars—of action!  Sometimes, anger, strife, and conflict can arise from a square.  And other times, initiative, leadership, and courage.

With Saturn being essentially dignified in his own traditional sign of Aquarius and in direct motion, I feel we may all be in for a big check from Saturn.  This is like a big test about our purpose, mission, and reality.

Uranus is the modern ruler of Aquarius and was involved with the most recent eclipse and Saturn was square the eclipse, so this could be a sudden reality check that feels not so good.  It could really hurt.  This is a transit that is meant to wake people up and shake them out of their sheltered lives and thrust them into a situation that does not feel comfortable or secure.  It is time to shit or get off the pot, so to say.  It is time to show up and do the work.  Father time is here to tell us something very important and whatever that may be for you personally, I feel it will be a serious and somewhat grave message.

We also have another transit that perfected this morning at about 7:20 am ET, Venus at 22°Scorpio 47’ made a perfect trine to Neptune at 22°Pisces 47’retrograde.  This, I feel could be a slippery slope.  Venus the goddess of love, affection, and beauty meets “Neptune, the god of the oceans,” who astrologer, Anthony Louis says, “acts like a universal solvent dissolving the clear boundaries set up by Saturn.” (Louis, 2008).

I feel that this could be like someone staying asleep and not waking up because sleeping feels so good and comfortable and it’s easier to stay asleep than endure the harsh realities of life sometimes.

On a positive note, this could be finding peace in the beauty of your life, amidst the hard truths this week.  It could be about falling in love, feeling romantic, joyful, and artistic.  It feels like someone really getting into the holiday spirit!  It could also represent a beautiful dream coming true that grants you your wish of money, luxury, or love.  It could represent a good time with friends, listening to great music, eating yummy food, or dancing.  It can signify wonderful things.

My hope is that we all experience the beautiful side of the Venus trine Neptune transit and that it feels like taking a much-needed and luxurious bath after a long hard day at work.  It would sure be nice to relax in the tub, candles lit, soft music playing, and just let your troubles and the tension in your body melt away.  I hope we all have an experience like this in the near future, for the stress of the other transits, to be honest, kinda sucks.

Let’s move on to the card for the day:

What is the guidance for today?

You Are A Pawn—reversed

On this card, we see a pawn, on a chessboard, and under this image are the words, “You are a Pawn.”

The little book of interpretations says:

“You may feel that you are being manipulated by a higher, more clever intelligence.  In reality, nobody is doing anything to anybody.  We’re all here together, although the rational conscious may not realize it.” (Robbins, 1983).

I feel that this card is about feeling used in some way.  In the reversed position, I feel that it means you are only used if you allow yourself to be manipulated.  In other words, if we have clear boundaries, we can’t be used by others in ways that we don’t allow.  So, I feel that this card is about setting up and keeping clear boundaries.

I’d like to pull a tool card from a new deck, The Native American Tarot deck, that my mother just sent me as an early birthday present.

What is our tool for this energy?

Eight of Vessels ~ Indolence

On this card we see a Native American cowboy, sleeping by the edge of a bullpen, holding a spilling bottle of alcohol in his lap.

This card is about feeling over-extended, exhausted, and emotionally depleted.  This card is another reminder that we need to set boundaries and honor them so that we do not continue patterns that emotionally drain us so much that we just want to “drink” our troubles away or be slothful in our actions.

Since this is an eight, this corresponds to the VIII Strength card in the Major Arcana and I think that this is where the actual tool part comes in with this card.  The Strength card is about finding your inner strength to persevere and carry on in life, even when the going gets tough. When the winter comes in and threatens you with bitter cold realities, it’s time to find the inner strength and fortitude to move to warmer climates.

So, wake up, cowboy! Drowning our sorrows or ignoring our responsibilities will only lead to a more sobering lesson from Saturn!
