Good morning, friends!
****8:13 am ET. There is a power outage on my road because a tree fell on the power lines and so the read aloud version of the weekend forecast will be delayed. I have to go outside this morning and collect firewood before the temperature drops into the teens; that takes priority over recording the horoscope.
I am hopeful that I can record the horoscope later today and update the post and publish the podcast this afternoon.—AstroMommy ***
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Welcome to our extended holiday weekend horoscope spanning Friday, thru Sunday, with a little sprinkle about the beginning of next week. I will not be posting on Monday, but I will post on Wednesday. Next week I will be working on the Mercury retrograde forecasts for each sign, which I plan to post on Friday of next week.
So, there’s a lot to do! With the holiday and the Mercury retrograde coming up and I have an exam in one of my astrology classes, I am super busy!
Okay, let’s get into… the astrology
On Friday, we have a New Moon in Capricorn at 5:16 am ET. This New Moon will be at 1°Capricorn 32’ and both the Moon and the Sun are separating from a square to Jupiter during this New Moon, so I feel that the Jupitarian energy is an underlying consideration.
The New Moon time is a time when new seeds are planted, new ideas, and new thoughts, and it’s so perfect with New Year’s Day right around the corner.
The Winter solstice, which was on December 21, marks the longest night of the year after which the light starts to increase—the darkness is no longer dominant as the Sun makes his way back up towards the Spring equinox point of zero Aries—so this is the Sun literally coming back up from it’s the lowest point in our sky—the tropic of Capricorn—that is why the days start to get longer and longer after the Winter Solstice.
The Sun and Moon in Capricorn square Jupiter in Aries could bring about a lot of initiatory actions—we could really feel the page turning and the new chapter beginning! Just about a week later, the Moon will reach her first quarter phase, and this symbolizes the new ideas and projects taking hold and becoming a reality instead of just thoughts or dreams. So, this week is a magical one! The light is increasing, the New Year is upon us—it reminds me of being pregnant. With each of my pregnancies, the first few months were so interesting in that I could feel this extra hum of energy coursing through my body—I couldn’t feel the baby moving or anything yet, but it was almost like I could sense the cells dividing and reproducing inside of me and it created like this extra buzz…that’s what I feel this time is like—there is an extra hum or buzz of energy—something stirring inside that if we sit real quiet and tune into we can feel in the air.
Jupiter in Aries makes a semisquare to Uranus in Taurus on Friday night at 7:42 pm ET, so this could bring up big-picture ideas, but people won’t have what they need to get them started yet—so there’s a bit of a want or desire for something, but delays, most likely financial delays, may occur.
On Saturday, Mercury in Capricorn forms a sextile to Neptune in Pisces, so this could be an announcement or a dream that creates an opportunity for something magical or fantastical…a nice and harmonious transit for the start of the holiday weekend. It could be “some enchanted evening!”
(I just heard, “Some Enchanted Eventing” from South Pacific play in my head, so here ya go! LOL!)
By Saturday night at about 10:10 pm ET, the Moon will conjoin Pluto in Capricorn. This is a touchy spot for the Moon, since she is in her detriment in Capricorn, and contacts with Pluto could bring up deep feelings that she’d rather not confront. So, people could be a bit moody and cranky on Saturday night. Hopefully, this can be soothed with a nice warm soup and some hot tea, but just be aware that cantankerousness could be common. Maybe put some turkey broth in that soup so the littles fall asleep a little early so you can get those stockings stuffed with them conked out and not trying to sneak a peek--if you know what I mean!
Sunday is Christmas day, and if you celebrate then Merry Christmas! The Moon enters the sign of Aquarius at 2:13 am ET on Sunday.
The Moon in Aquarius is a bit of an emotionally detached moon, which may be good for the holiday. Making sure that everyone gets their fair share of the Christmas cookies could be a big deal, for Aquarius energy makes sure that everyone gets what they need. This could be a tricky energy if you have any Veruca Salts at your holiday table, but otherwise, I feel that this is a supportive energy for the festivities.
In the afternoon on Sunday, Mars and Venus form a little-known aspect called a contra-antiscia, which acts like a hidden opposition. So, the day could have a bit of an underlying tension in the air.
By the evening at 6:32 pm ET, the Moon in Aquarius will make a trine to Mars in Gemini retrograde, so this could be a fun evening with lots of conversations, networking, and schmoozing—this feels like a nice night of family games or fun movies. I am liking this energy for Christmas evening a lot!
Moving on to the beginning of next week, Monday and Tuesday are pretty quiet, astrologically. The only touchy spot that I can see on Monday is when the Moon conjoins Saturn at 12:52 pm ET—this combo always brings up feelings of isolation, loneliness, and abandonment. So, if you seem to feel those things when the Moon and Saturn meet every month, prepare for that by doing what you can to balance those negative feelings with positive ones on Monday.
The Moon is in Aquarius until Tuesday, December 27th when she moves into Pisces at 2:33 am ET. On Tuesday, the Moon makes a sextile to the Sun in Capricorn and forms semisquares with Venus, Mercury, and then Pluto as well as a square to Mars in Gemini retrograde, so Tuesday could be a day when things are going pretty well—there are some good feelings surrounding your mission in life in general, but again there could be some delays to actually getting things started—you may have some loose ends you need to tie up before plans can be underway.
All in all, it seems like it will be a pleasant holiday weekend and start to the week, with only a few minor speedbumps on the road.
Let’s move on to a three-card spread for the weekend that will represent the past, present, and future:
The first card that represents the past is:
Page of Swords
On this card, we see a Page holding a sword and a shield. A castle is in the background.
The Page of Swords as representing the past could mean that we had new ideas that we tried. We were curious and wanted to acquire knowledge about something. Swords represent thoughts and ideas and so this is something that we thought about or recently learned.
The Second card represents the present:
Four of Wands
On this card, we see four wands, in two rows of two.
The Four of Wands represents a celebration, a happy ending, or a joyful time. This seems fitting since it is Christmas weekend!
As the card for the present, besides the obvious holiday, I feel that this card is representing being thankful and grateful for what you have and wanting to honor and cherish it with a celebration! This card can also indicate marriage.
The third card represents the future:
Horseman of Swords
On this card we see a horseman, riding his horse, holding a sword. He is poised and ready to do what needs to be done. In the background, there is a castle and a flame.
This card always seems to me to be about picking and choosing your battles. This horseman is ready for a fight, but the castle is already burning so what good will fighting actually do? The future may hold some conflicts or it could feel like things are chaotic. It’s up to you to decide what to do next. Fight fire with fire or fight fire with water?
I feel that this reading may be about choosing a new way of communicating, one that is in alignment with your current values of peace and harmony. I think that the Page of Swords may actually be representing our younger more inexperienced and immature selves and we will have the opportunity to show how much we’ve grown up in the future when situations arise that test our communication skills.
But, for now, focus on the celebration at hand and have a great weekend and a happy holiday!

I hope this is helpful!
Until Wednesday,
