Mercury Conjoins Chiron, the First Quarter Moon in Cancer, & the Page of Wands
Daily Horoscope Check-In for Monday, April 15, 2024
Good morning, friends!
We start this week with the next scene in the great play, Mercury Retrograde in Aries 2024, “ACT I Scene III, Mercury conjoins Chiron,” followed by the First Quarter Moon in Cancer this afternoon, which perfects after squaring the Nodes, Chiron, and Mercury.
Also, if you missed the important update to the newsletter that I posted this morning, you can read it here.
So, let’s get right into…the astrology
Mercury already conjoined Chiron once on March 20, 2024 when he was moving forward, had his cazimi moment with the Sun on April 11, 2024, and is now meeting up with Chiron for the second time while moving backward. So, it is as if we are revisiting a wound or a trigger point that we may have noticed on March 20th. Mercury will conjoin Chiron one last time on May 6, 2024, in direct motion again, finishing up this cycle.
Let’s go over the transits for the day and see where this conjunction falls in the storyline to make sense of it.
Monday’s Transits
The Moon moved into Cancer over the weekend and on Sunday night she perfected squares to the Nodes from the Northern Bending, indicating an increase in activity, outward expression, or energy coming into your life from others and thus manifesting as an event that may be public or outside of one’s self. This may have been felt over the weekend or it could come about this week, as the transits are like a wave-form, energy rising up to the peak and then dissipating; meaning that you can experience the energy of the transit before, during, and after the moment of exactitude.
Early this morning the Moon in Cancer made squares to Chrion and Mercury in Aries between 2:41 am and 3:11 am ET, thus activating what Mercury’s conjunction to Chrion means in our personal lives. It’s as if the Moon was gathering information for us to chew on this morning as we woke up and began our days (if you are in a different timezone, please adapt this analogy to make sense).
Between 4:05 am and 6 am ET, the Moon in Cancer perfected sextiles to Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus, which is like an opening up to the many possibilities for the future. We know that the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction is coming up this weekend on Saturday, April 20, 2024—let’s just think about the Moon’s relationship from today and throughout the week and up until the conjunction for a minute…
Today the Moon in Cancer is making sextiles to these two indicating an openness and a willingness to work with the expansive Jupitarian energy and the revolutionary Uranian energy. On Wednesday and Thursday of this week, the Moon will enter Leo, challenging this energy with a square, but this could be about productivity and getting things done. Then she ingresses into Virgo where she is in a trine relationship to Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus, so this energy is quick and represents preparation that is easy and in alignment with the goals of Jupiter and Uranus, laying the groundwork for a smooth show by working out all the details, like an amazing stage manager for a big theatre production coming up! As the two conjoin, the Moon is about to change signs from Virgo (where she was in harmony with Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus and in opposition Saturn, Mars, and Neptune in Pisces, signifying making important and serious decisions) and is at the anoretic degree, the last degree of Virgo which means that during this big conjunction between Jupiter and Uranus, our fortunes or circumstances will change dramatically!
Okay, back to today…
Mercury Retrograde in Aries Conjunct Chiron
At 11:23 am ET Mercury in Aries conjoins Chiron (you can see this at the top of the chart between 11 and 12 o’clock) and we find out more information about our wounds, triggers, and vulnerabilities and what needs healing. There could be news or information circulating about things that are triggers or places where people or entities are vulnerable or need healing or perhaps you will have a heart-to-heart about topics in your life where you may be experiencing some hurt and need support, comfort, and care.
First Quarter Moon in Cancer
In the afternoon at 3:13 pm ET, the Moon in Cancer makes a square to the Sun in Aries. You can see the moon on the left of the chart and the sun on the right in the upper hemisphere of the chart.
The Moon in the first quarter square is a time of crisis, individuation, and action and means taking steps toward our goals in a physical, meaningful way. The Sun in Aries has a mission, and a charge, and wants to be a pioneer in discovering new territory and making headlines. The Moon in Cancer is concerned with how she feels, how things affect her home life, her body, and her overall sense of security, so this aspect represents a challenging moment of struggle met with strength and determination.
Whatever seeds were planted a week ago with the Solar Eclipse in Aries are now starting to show themselves, peeking up through the earth. You may be taking action today or you may be realizing the ball that started rolling a week ago. You may also be doing what you can to feel secure emotionally and in your home life.
Here are some questions to ask yourself during this lunar phase:
What are you taking action toward today? What are you noticing taking shape? What are you strengthening?
