Good morning, friends!
Today we are going to start with the Tarot card for the day and work from there through the transits. I feel the card that I pulled relates to everything that is going on today, so it only makes sense to start with it.
What is the guidance for the day?
8 of Pentacles
On this card we see a woman seated in front of her table and on the table are bowls of herbs, a mortar and pestle, a plant, a candle, a pile of books, and a feather. She holds a candle in her left hand and looks to the left for guidance from her intuition. Above her is an arc of eight moons showing the moon’s eight phases.
The 8 of Pentacles is about working and the daily grind. Clearly, the woman on this card is hard at work, deep in thought, and contemplating what to do next. This card symbolizes that where you are right now is in the flow of work—doing daily work and working towards a goal, a physical, material goal. You may be taking a short pause right now as you assess what you are going to add to your table next or what you are going to use from your table. You may be seeking some illumination or clarification from your intuition or spirit guides to help you make this choice. Whatever you decide, this card is a reminder to do your best. Put forth your best effort to produce your best work.
Today’s Transits
The Moon today is in the sign of Leo all day bringing in a dramatic flare! You could be feeling some type of way and don’t have any problem telling people about it! Yesterday she opposed the Sun in her Full Moon phase and today, although she has begun to lose a little light, she is still bright in the night sky! This means that we are either still in celebration or we are still in the midst of ending something and could be caught in the transition.
Today the Moon will make a trine to Chiron in Aries, a square to Uranus in Taurus retrograde (he will be stationing direct, on Saturday, remember), and a sesquiquadrate to Venus in Capricorn, meaning that there may be situations in our lives where we are feeling vulnerable or unsure of ourselves, but a sudden twist of fate or insight may inspire an unusual choice from the table. We could choose something based on how it looks, tastes, or smells, and that choice may surprise us. Our logical minds may want to choose something from the table based on utility or its credentials, but ultimately, the most important attribute is how it will make us feel, sensually.
One of the many other things that I do besides astrology is work with essential oils and this reminds me how important the scent of an oil is to the individual. I may have an oil in mind for my client’s particular ailment or situation that I may think will work fabulously, but if they don’t like the scent, then that plant oil may not be one of their “medicines.” Often, just by smelling the oils, my clients will find the “right” one. Trust your senses today, they will guide you.
Venus is also making a sesquiquadrate to Uranus in Taurus retrograde in the late morning and that further emphasizes that we are either attracting something unusual or we are drawn to something unusual. It’s as if the woman on the card sees something that sparkles and catches her eye that she didn’t see before and so she decides that she will use that item, but before she can pick it up, there may be preparations she needs to make. So, an unusual decision may be made, but there are preparatory steps to do beforehand.
Mercury in Capricorn is in a partile conjunction to Mars today, both at 16° of Capricorn and in square to Chiron in Aries at 15° 52’. This conjunction and square has been building up all week and is finally here. Mercury and Mars will perfect their conjunction to the minute, tomorrow, Saturday, January 27, 2024, the same day that Uranus in Taurus will station direct and the Sun in Capricorn will square Jupiter in Taurus. The Sun is also in a partile square to Jupiter today. Partile means that the planets are in the same degree, but it’s not exact to the minute of arc, so it is still applying or separating.
So, we have Mercury the master of arguments and Mars, the planet of war, together and in a square to Chiron, the wounded healer. There may be a debate going on and it may be in your own head. What do I do? Which way do I go? What do I decide? The trick here is to stop the indecision and make a choice. Ask yourself questions like, “How would I feel if I chose X?” and then repeat this with Y and Z. It’s time to be an editor and make the hard choices.
Back to the card…the woman sitting at the table has some hard decisions to make about what to do next. Using the flow of transits, the story could be something like this:
