Good morning, friends!
This morning I got lost listening to music. I signed up for a “Sing More Challenge” from a Waldorf-inspired homeschooling website called Lavender’s Blue Homeschool and today’s song was Scarborough Fair, which is a song that I absolutely love since I am a Renaissance Fair person. I used to work and travel with the Renaissance Fair and growing up in Northern California, my sister introduced me to the beautiful Fair in Black Point where I belly danced and served tea at Mullah’s Coffee & Tea House. I have so many fond memories of that environment, that hearing the song “Scarborough Fair” brought me back. I could almost smell the forest where the Fair was set: the wet leaves, the damp mud, and the hay bales, the scent of incense and tobacco mixed with coffee and chai, and feel the crisp morning air on my skin, raising goosebumps across my collarbone and lifting the many layers of skirts as I journeyed across the footpaths. The sound of people walking with bells on their boots, and the low muffled voices and laughter that floated through the streets up and around the booths and settled next to me, like little butterflies on flowers in spring, welcomed and adored. Isn’t it magical how music can take you back somewhere, to something long before and if you close your eyes, you’re transported there?!
I’m sure this relates to the astrology somehow…maybe it’s that the Moon was conjoined to the South Node yesterday which is said to represent past memories coming into your mind, or maybe it’s something else. Maybe it’s more personal to me in that the Moon just entered Scorpio today and is forming a trine to my natal South Node, again representing memories…no matter, it was a nice little musical/memory rendezvous.
Speaking of the Moon…she entered Scorpio, her fall, this morning. The Moon is in her fall in Scorpio because it is the sign opposite her exaltation and it is a time when we get closer to our deep emotions. The Scorpio Moon can bring up from the depths of our unconscious things that have previously been lying dormant or hidden; they bubble up, froth over, and appear, steaming hot with emotions. They can be sharp and painful, like splinters being extracted, or soft and gushy, like puss being drawn out. Or passionate and hot like a trashy romance novel, or strange and confrontational like the mating dance of flatworms (I had some fun reading this article to come up with that!) Whatever it is, it can be intense, but also a relief to get it all out in the open.
The Moon upon her ingress into Scorpio, immediately made a sextile to Mars, freshly in Capricorn, and is on her way toward a trine with Saturn in Pisces and an opposition to Jupiter in Taurus.
The sextile with Mars symbolizes feeling in tune with your desires, drives, and ambitions and it presents the possibility to take action on those things.
The trine to Saturn indicates we may have some serious feelings today and even though the Scorpio Moon if confronted by Saturn in a square or opposition, would mean hard, and possibly excruciating emotions coming up, the trine is more favorable and means that we may welcome the discipline that Saturn requires of us. We may feel on top of our emotions, or in control of them, like a steady hand on the reigns of a horse.
And the opposition to Jupiter indicates a decision coming up about what we desire vs. what we already have and a reminder to look at the glass half-full instead of half-empty.
The Moon’s positive aspects to both of the malefics today while in her fall is fortunate and means that a generally rocky, unstable place for the Moon may actually feel solid, comforting, and secure.
The hardest transit for the Moon today is the opposition to Jupiter which challenges our beliefs, our attitudes, and our abilities to see the big picture and make choices that unify rather than divide.
So, all in all, I think today is going to run pretty smoothly and be relatively uneventful.
That being said, we are 3 days away from Mercury’s final square to Neptune and 15 days away from the Sun and Pluto meeting up, so there are things to be aware of on the horizon, but enjoy today.
Over the weekend, the sun will square Chiron on Saturday, which could bring up some challenges regarding our carefully laid plans and how we feel about them, and on Sunday, the Moon will ingress into Sagittarius and square Saturn in Pisces, which always means the possibility to feel alone, isolated, and like the Universe is telling you “No,” and also on Sunday, the Moon will officially enter her Balsamic phase, where she loses all of her light as she approaches the New Moon in Capricorn on January 11, 2024. So, this weekend may be a bit of a doozy if you have a lot of emotional stuff come up that you have to work through or it could mean you get some serious work done, letting go of things that no longer serve you and your ambitions.
Let’s see what the cards have to say about today…
