Without further ado, here is the daily horoscope.
Good morning, friends!
So, here we are in August! I know it’s the second, but I feel like it sort of just hit me this morning that it is really the last month of summer! This means that I will need to make a bit of a change to my schedule for the last few weeks of the month in order to have time to prepare for the upcoming homeschool year.
I have not decided exactly what this will look like, but I have thought about maybe scaling back to one or two posts a week starting next week and then picking back up with the normal, four-times-per-week schedule in September, but I am not sure if that would be enough for you all! LOL!
So, I just wanted to give you a heads up that I am brainstorming some time off starting next week, but I will do my best to still give you all the most important information that you need to navigate the rest of August!
I was also considering making some weekly overview videos or an August overview video, or both, instead of the daily posts. What would you like? Please let me know if you have any ideas in the comments section or send me an email to astromommyastrology@gmail.com. I would love to hear your thoughts before I finalize my plans. How very Venus retrograde in my third house of communication, messages, and writing!! Gotta love it, right?!
Okay, let’s get into… the astrology
On Wednesday…
The Moon in Aquarius’s first order of business in the early morning is to form a sextile to Chiron in Aries at 7:14 am and then a square to Uranus in Taurus at 11:44 am ET.
The sextile, a 60-degree angle, is said to be the nature of Venus, so it is harmonious, pleasant, and gentle. Moon and Chiron coming together in a sextile is like a gentle breeze blowing something in your path that feels synchronistic. You may encounter subtle signs from the Universe that represent a feeling of harmony with whatever it is you are identifying with right now. You may feel less vulnerable knowing the Universe is guiding you like this. It’s like getting a bunch of green lights as you’re driving. You almost don’t notice, but then you do, and it just feels good like luck is shining on you!
Then the Moon makes her square to Uranus in Taurus and this could be getting a sudden red light that makes you take a harder look at your surroundings and you realize that you drove on auto-pilot somewhere you weren’t expecting to go, but it could still be awesome, nonetheless! It just depends, right? Because Uranus brings sudden, unexpected changes and they could go either way, that’s the wonkiness of Uranus. With the Moon, in general, I hope for the positive, especially when the Moon is not in her detriment or fall. At 22°Aquarius, the Moon is in her own decan, the decan associated with Six of Swords in the Tarot, which has to do with leaving a situation in order to go to a better one.
So maybe you realize that you’ve ended up at the beach and you decide to take a stroll on the boardwalk and it brings you insights you never would’ve had had you been paying attention.
In the evening on Wednesday, the Moon in Aquarius will first oppose Venus retrograde in Leo at 5:15 pm ET and then she will make harmonious aspects to the Nodes in Aries and Libra.
The opposition, a 180-degree angle, is said to be the nature of Saturn and represents having to make a serious decision between one outcome and another. Like coming to a crossroads and you can either turn left, or right, continue going forward, or you could turn around and go back the way you came. With Venus retrograde, you may feel drawn to going back to something that you were previously doing because it feels more comfortable and familiar; on the other hand, you may feel like you were going the wrong way and that is why you need to make a U-turn.
The Moon and Venus in this stand-off could symbolize feeling the need to figure out a way in which to proceed forward that doesn’t feel too emotional, the Moon is in Aquarius, but still nourishes the heart, Venus is in Leo. The dilemma could be about a relationship or a financial issue, two things that Venus retrograde tends to bring up, and how one or both of those things are affecting a personal feeling, a family dynamic, or your own ability to self-soothe.
At 11:05 pm ET on Wednesday night the Moon ingresses into Pisces and whatever decisions we made to feel detached and untouched by the emotions we’ve been slogging through will go out the window, for the Pisces moon energy brings everything rushing back in, like being hit by a tsunami of feelings from the “emotion ocean.” We will realize on Wednesday night, going into Thursday, that we can not escape our emotions, no matter how hard we try to push them away, look at things from a broad perspective, or try to escape, they are always there.
On Thursday…
The Moon in Pisces is on her way to conjoin Saturn, but before she gets there she first forms a semisquare to Chiron in Aries…another day started with a contact to Chiron, but this time, it’s not as fun as yesterday. Yesterday, the Moon formed a sextile, a pleasant and harmonious aspect, but on Thursday, she starts out with a semisquare, a 45-degree angle that represents delays, setbacks, and frustrations. The Moon is on her way to conjoining Chiron in Aries eventually and so this is sort of like the Balsamic phase between Moon and Chiron and it may feel like that as well, like we have come to terms with a vulnerable part of ourselves that we no longer want to identify with and we are letting it go, releasing it back into the Universe for soulful recycling.
After this, the Moon in Pisces conjoins Saturn retrograde at 5°33’. The Moon and Saturn together can feel heavy, serious, and lonely. Saturn tries to contain the Pisces moon and make it conform to the structure he is imposing. Saturn is also cold and dry and so it could feel like being frozen in time. Saturn is about boundaries and time is one of those boundaries that Saturn rules, so we could feel isolated, withdrawn, and devoid of warmth, heat, or fluidity. Saturn in Pisces is such an interesting combination because Pisces is naturally so fluid, psychic, and adaptable, but Saturn applies so much pressure and Pisces is used to expanding, merging, and composing, that it feels restricted with Saturn there and Saturn, in turn, feels lost in the chaos, the dream, and the diffuse energy of Pisces. It’s naturally a juxtaposition, so when the Moon meets up with Saturn in Pisces every month there is a greater focus on this challenge and we may feel it in our skin, bones, teeth, hair, and nails—this strange pressure to contract and expand at the same time. The constant cooling and heating can either produce something very resilient or make it crack.
By mid-morning on Thursday the Moon in Pisces then opposes Mercury in Virgo and this is where we are able to get a more precise look at what we’ve been feeling in our bodies up until now and we may finally be able to choose the exact words to describe them. Again, the opposition presents us with a dilemma, a stand-off, or a situation where you have to make a compromise, and since the Moon represents our emotions and hearts and Mercury our minds, this will be a compromise between the two: heart and mind. And it may be detailed, organized, and have a list attached to it!
In the afternoon on Thursday, the Moon forms a quincunx to the Sun in Leo symbolizing a change or separation from the plotline—maybe this compromise or decision we will make is a bit of a deviation from the original plan. Like deciding to go left when the plan was to go right.
At 7:50 pm ET the Moon forms a sesquiquadrate and a semisquare to the South and North Nodes respectively and then at 9:03 pm a semisquare to Pluto in Capricorn. Pluto in Capricorn is still in a square to the Nodes himself and so this means that yes, we did make a decision of what to keep and what to let go of and the plans are underway by Thursday night.
Thankfully at 9:19 pm ET the Moon in Pisces perfects a sextile to Jupiter in Taurus so whatever we decided has the opportunity to be very beneficial, helpful, and pleasant for us down the road. The direction we take May feel like the right one.
The last transit of Thursday is the Moon in opposition to Mars in Virgo, meaning we are now taking definitive action on our decisions. The Moon and Mars in an opposition can symbolize taking action, moving forward, and being inspired to be precise in our maneuvers, like a surgeon. A negative of this combination is always strife, conflict, and arguments; letting our anger take over and drive the car, maybe even running some of the red lights that pop up trying to slow us down!
But, I feel with Saturn still co-present with the Moon in Pisces and also in opposition to this Mars by whole sign, this is still pressing the brakes on Mars to play by the rules, follow the letter of the law, and abide by the limitations that are there for safety reasons. So, I would be mindful of that—and wear the seatbelt, the safety glasses, or the leather gloves—there’s never a good reason to test Mars!
Let’s move on to the card for the day:
What is the guidance for today?
King of Rods—Reversed
On this card we see a King, wearing a crown, his head covered underneath. He is wearing a cloak with a shoulder broach bearing a cross; and holding a sprouted oak wand in his left hand. The King sits and faces left, gazing out across the countryside.
The King of Rods is a masculine energy that is secure in his own creative expression and takes inspired action. He is noble, honest, conscientious, just, spiritually aware, and in control.
In the upright position this indicates having a clear vision, leadership qualities, and support around you to manifest your dreams.
In the reversed position, this card indicates a need to look within yourself for these qualities or it could mean that someone with these qualities is acting severe, critical, or overbearing and this is having an effect on you. You may not feel that you know which way to go or what to do and therefore you cannot lead anyone anywhere when you yourself are lost! This card could also represent a situation in which you are feeling unsupported and need to cut some things out—this could be relationships, jobs, or environmental circumstances that are not supportive anymore that you need to let go of.
This is still a positive card for the day because it’s reminding you that you have all the power, strength, and courage within you to step into your best life! With Mercury and Mars in Virgo in opposition to Saturn, this card makes a lot of sense—prune and “shape” your life so more leaves and flowers have room to grow and bloom! Figure out the best direction to take at the crossroads and then take it!
