New Moon In Cancer--New Word List! Word List #15 Lunar Poetry Ritual
Poetry Prompt for the Cancer New Moon July 17, 2023
Good afternoon, friends!
Tonight is the New Moon in Cancer! So, that means a new word list. I had the pleasure of creating this word list with my Gemini niece and I want to give a huge thanks to them! Thank you!
If you like writing poetry, I would love to share this experience with you! You can find out how to participate in the description below.
Happy writing!
Word list #15
For the Cancer New Moon (due on the Aquarius Full Moon, August 1, 2023)
How to play: Below you will find this lunar month’s word list—from it, you are to write a poem using the exact words listed in the order they are in.
For example, the opening to my poem might be: “Tigers have stripes” and then I would use the next word in the list in a line after the first word, “to repose is to let go of gripes,”….and so on, until all 15 words have been used. There is no limit to the length of your poem or to how many words are in between the words in the list. There are no other rules, just use all 15 words as they are (do not change their tense or add suffixes to them) and in the order presented.
Next Full Moon, I will share the poem that I write here on Substack, and if you’d like you can share your poem with me! If you share on social media, use the hashtag #astromommywordpoem so we can all share our poems in one place! Thanks for participating!

I love this list! I am not a poet by any stretch but was intrigued by the challenge - and then truly wondered how I was going to manage to construct an entire poem following the rules. But it ended up being so much fun and the exercise brought me to some unexpected and enlightening places. It also served as a welcome distraction from the heavy feels and challenges of the current astrology. OH BOY HOWDY. The Cancer New Moon and its companion aspects are expressing as foretold, and they’re doing it all over my sensitive bits—the Nodes are shifting directly onto my MC/IC with Pluto squaring and also blasting an opposition to my Leo Sun. It’s a wild ride on the high seas in the family boat. I thank you and your niece SO much for a positive and productive way to use this tender, thorny, transformative energy!
