New Moon in Sagittarius & III The Empress--Reversed
Daily Check-In for Tuesday, December 12, 2023
Good afternoon, friends!
I have been hard at work putting the final touches on the Weekly Forecast and while the audio and video are rendering, I am popping on to say hello with a Daily Check-In!
Today is the New Moon in Sagittarius, happening at 6:31 pm ET. Honestly, I am very excited for this new Sagittarius energy to fully come in!
I went over the New Moon chart in the Weekly Forecast, so I’d like to dive right into the card for the day.
What is the guidance for the day?
III The Empress—Reversed
On this card, we see The Empress, reclining on the grass naked with an animal fur draped over her. She is smelling a red rose symbolizing the power of seduction, passion, and sexuality. Beside her is a mirror lying on the grass. All around her on the card are symbols of the Goddess. III The Empress, who also represents Venus, the planet of love, affection, and beauty, is a creator, creating life, love, and happiness in the material world. She represents nature, nurturance, fertility, femininity, sensuality, pleasures, abundance, motherhood, maternal instincts, and the maternal bond.
In the upright position, a few things that The Empress is about are connecting with our femininity, our mothering instincts, the abundance in our lives, and nature.
In the reversed position, The Empress can be a reminder to mother yourself and spend some time doing some self-care. It could represent feeling out of touch with your feminine side and be an opportunity to connect with your receptive, sensual, and nurturing self. Maybe it means that you are not feeling abundance in your life or the creative energy feels blocked from flowing and growing.
It could also symbolize feeling out of touch with the natural world and be an invitation to take a walk outside, meditate in the park, or spend some time smelling the roses.
This card coming up reversed may also indicate that you’re feeling uncomfortable with your body, your sensuality, or your sexuality and this is an opportunity to explore what is going on there—so that you can establish a healthier outlook about those things.
Since The Empress represents the Mother, in the reversed position, this could indicate that you are being too mothering and smothering someone or maybe you are being smothered by the care and attention from someone in your life—either way, this card is an invitation to ease up in that relationship or set firmer boundaries.
I think this is interesting since Venus today is forming a sesquiquadrate to Neptune in Pisces and this is the first aspect from a planet, not the Moon, that Neptune is receiving since he turned direct.
The sesquiquadrate is a combination of a square and a semisquare: a 90° angle, plus a 45°, equaling a total of 135°. So, there is the energy of pushing, pulling, and fighting for something—almost forcing something to go through. The square pushes something through and then the semisquare stops that action and says, “Not yet,” so we get friction, delays, and setbacks.
Let’s take a look at the chart of this transit today:
