Surrender to the Transformation—Sun Trine Pluto & XII The Hanged Man-Reversed

Well, I am happy to report that my migraine is over!

I am excited for today, tomorrow, and this weekend because today the Sun trines Pluto retrograde, tomorrow we have the Full Moon in Sagittarius while Venus conjoins Jupiter and then makes her entrance into Gemini, then on Saturday, Jupiter ingresses into Gemini, so the benefics are changing signs and to me, that’s exciting!

If you have a mutable rising sign, Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, or Pisces, then you may feel this shift more than others, as it affects the angles of your chart and thus carries a more noticeable gust of energy, like a warm summer breeze laden with the sweet scent of Jasmine that swirls and wraps itself around you, invoking calm, serene, and sensual feelings.

Okay, let’s get into…the astrology

Today the Moon will be finishing up her time in Scorpio.  She will ingress into the hopeful, optimistic sign of Sagittarius tomorrow morning at 4:24 am ET, so the middle of the night.  She will oppose the planetary lineup in Taurus starting today with Uranus this afternoon, then Venus, and finally Jupiter in the wee hours of tomorrow morning, so we could feel the energy of these transits building up today.  Mostly, this may feel like a pulling sensation between our emotions, and our values, relationships, and beliefs coming to a peak that will experience a release tomorrow.

Today’s Transits

In the early morning today at 2:48 am ET the Moon in Scorpio formed a quincunx to Mars in Aries indicating that we may feel at odds with something about our identity or our drives.  There is something that is sort of tickling the back of our necks that keeps making us turn around to find nothing there, but we can swear we are feeling something!  Or, since Mars and the Moon recently had a stand-off during their opposition last weekend, it’s almost like we had to have our arm amputated and now we are experiencing phantom limb.  So, there’s something that’s getting your attention but it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what it is because when you try to look directly at it, it disappears. Yet, another thing that could be happening is that maybe you lost your cool during the Moon’s opposition to Mars while he was conjoined to the North Node and now you are feeling a bit embarrassed and remorseful about your actions.

At 6:02 am ET, the Moon in Scorpio made a trine to Saturn in Pisces symbolizing a block or barrier being removed.  We got a green light from Saturn this morning emotionally and this may feel really good!  Moon trine Saturn is a great time to embark on a project or idea that requires steadfastness, endurance, or stamina, as Saturn enables us to be disciplined in our actions and follow the framework that we have established thus far.  Saturn is about structures and the harvest and the Moon is about habits and emotions, so the two together in a harmonious trine, which is the nature of Jupiter, allows us to build new routines or habits that benefit us in the long run, leading to a rewarding harvest.  What barriers or blocks did you feel lifted today?  What routines or habits have you formed that you are being disciplined with?  Every month when the Moon makes her two trines to Saturn it is an opportunity to add on to these positive structures and routines in our lives that help us foundationally move forward toward what we desire.

In the mid-morning at 11:13 am ET, the Sun in Gemini perfects his trine to Pluto in Aquarius retrograde bringing an intense, enlightening, and possibly potent transformative quality to the day, week, month, or year! 

Let’s pause for a moment and look at the chart of the Sun trine Pluto and discuss this transit in a bit more depth.

We can see the Sun in the upper left of the chart at about the 11 o’clock position and Pluto retrograde on the right-hand side of the chart at the 3 o’clock position. 

The Sun is the noetic light and represents the life force, the spirit, our purpose, and our ambitions in life. 

Pluto represents death and rebirth, transformation, and irrevocable change.

The trine is of the nature of Jupiter and brings things together in harmony seeking unity and togetherness. 

What this means is that the Sun and Pluto are working together to bring about a powerful change to our mission, our purpose, or our spirit in some way.  And with Jupiter being at the last degree of Taurus and Venus about to conjoin him, and then Jupiter ingressing into Gemini and forming a trine to Pluto himself, Jupiter and Venus are part of the story unfolding today.  This is really positive and means that the two benefics are bringing in yet another blessing or opportunity that could be really helpful and nourishing right now!

Every year the Sun forms two trines to Pluto. Each trine is an opportunity for us to look deep within, illuminating the dark secret parts of our psyches and experience powerful transformations, like little turbo boosts, power washes, or cosmic doses of compost for our souls.

Last year, the Sun in Gemini trined Pluto in Aquarius retrograde for the first time in our lives and I think what I wrote about that transit holds true again, so I would like to share it with you again:

So, this trine (Sun trine Pluto) could bring about a major personal transformation of some kind—life and death come to mind—the beautiful amazing birth of a baby, and also the passing of a loved one. Both are huge transformations of light: light coming into this physical plane of existence, and light leaving earth as we know it, from our perspective. But, as someone who believes in reincarnation and that our souls never die, death is also a birth— just into a new realm, or a new body.  So, I feel like when the Sun trines Pluto, it’s a really special time of year where there’s an opportunity to transform your life, either by gaining power, having an intense experience, witnessing a birth or a death— and just clearing the energy, bringing a major dose of sunshine into those dark recesses of ourselves that need to be bathed in light, healed, and cleaned out.  This could feel intense as the light of the Sun has access to the darkest and deepest feelings with the trine, but it offers such an amazing moment of spiritual growth.  Even in the midst of this beauty, we could wonder if we will survive—the Sun has the power to heal and make things thrive, but it also has the power to burn—so, we may feel very vulnerable in this situation.

I think since Jupiter and Venus are so close to this trine and they are both in a harmonious sextile to Neptune as well, that this Sun trine Pluto has a very real possibility to do some profound healing that is positive, uplifting, and feels destined. I love the additional fact that the Moon will be entering optimistic Sagittarius and opposing the Sun tomorrow during the Full Moon, while this trine energy is still active and Jupiter and Venus are together; this is something profound coming to a peak, a celebration, or a commencement moment that has positivity and hope written all over it!

Back to the daily transits…

After the Sun makes his trine to Pluto retrograde, the Moon in Scorpio will form another quincunx to Chiron at 12:56 pm and then an opposition to Uranus in Taurus at 4:23 pm ET.  The Moon’s quincunx to Chiron could represent feeling a bit tender at the moment and unsure of how things will play out.  The Moon’s opposition to Uranus indicates that something surprising, disruptive, or revolutionary may occur that affects us emotionally and could change things in a big way that we weren’t expecting.
