Good morning, friends!

This last weekend could’ve felt like a roller coaster—there were positive things going on, good vibes, surprising feelings, exciting changes, new situations, but then there was also this very hard reality about the finality of life, lessons of maturation, or very heavy responsibilities showing up. Now, today, the Sun squares Neptune, and things continue to feel heavy, nebulous, and confusing—are we going in the right direction, attempting to achieve the right things, or do we need to bring our focus back to the home, the family, the hearth? These questions may be swirling around in your mind as the Moon is losing light in the balsamic phase, reminding us to release and let go of the things that didn’t work out this lunar cycle and prepare for the new moon in just a few days in Cancer.

It feels like a bittersweet moment—one full of good times breaking bread with our loved ones, and also heartache when we have to say goodbye at the end of the day and go our separate ways.

Okay, let’s get into...the astrology

(all times are in Eastern time unless mentioned otherwise)

MONDAY, June 23, 2025—The Summary

The Moon in Gemini is in her balsamic phase, the end of her lunar cycle when she loses light in preparation to disappear behind the rays of the Sun, to be reborn. The Moon governs our emotions, and so she represents the fluctuating emotional undercurrent of the present moment. Today, we may feel mentally agile, quick on our feet, and able to detach emotionally, allowing us to mentally process all that we are experiencing without getting caught up in the emotional waves. She will square Mars in the early morning, meaning we wake up in a bit of an agitated or restless state, or maybe we just didn’t get any sleep.

Today could feel hard, like we have a life hangover—waking up late, car giving us issues, phone not working right or working really slowly, but under all of the little petty annoyances of the day, there is the knowledge that you are going through profound changes right now and emotionally you are receptive to your internal growth even if on the outside you seem a bit impatient today. There are things to be grateful for—focus on them, and the day will get a lot easier.

Transit Spotlight: Sun Square Neptune

The Sun in Cancer will perfect his square to Neptune in Aries at 4:29 am ET.

The Sun at 02°Cancer 08’ square Neptune at 02°Aries 08’ at 4:29 am ET. Chart generated using Solar Fire.

You can see the Sun at the bottom left of the chart at 02°Cancer 08’ at the 8 o’clock position and Neptune at 02°Aries 08’ on the upper left-hand side of the chart at the 11 o’clock position. They are connected by a solid red line with a little square in the middle, showing their aspect.

This transit can be challenging in that the square (90°) is said to be the nature of Mars, and so there could be struggle, conflict, and strife to deal with, but it could also be a moment of manifestation of that which is solar: our spirit, our ambitions, and our life-force energy with that which is Neptunian: our creative, imaginative, and musical natures, as well as delusion, weakness, and loss.

The Sun square Neptune can have a lot to do with the fate around the important men or solar figures in our lives. So this transit could go many ways; there could be spiritual insights, cognitive awareness of the other side, amazing dreams, and moments of enlightened compassion, or there could be confusion, fog, and disillusionment.

Neptune dissolves the boundaries of matter, like a wave washing over a cliff and pulling rocks and dirt back into the sea as it recedes, so sometimes when the Sun squares Neptune, there is a weakening effect and we can experience physical illness, confusion about our life purpose, or disappointment due to a loss. It’s as if the wave crashes over the flame of our existence and, for a moment, we are put out, snuffed, and extinguished—but because the Sun is a constant, never-ending source of energy, light, and fire, we will crackle and spark back to life once this transit passes.

Neptune is in the superior position, according to the rules of Hellenistic astrology, meaning that Neptune has the upper hand, is overcoming the Sun, and washing over him with his cooling waters. Momentarily, we could feel confused, lost, and directionless while we sit in the dark about something. We are encouraged to remember our source during this transit, the internal flame of our spirit that never dies, even in the midst of a stormy deluge of life, and take comfort in it. With the Moon in Gemini, we are urged to look at the facts and remain flexible. The agile and quick-witted attitude will really help us get through whatever is happening.

If you go through something heavy this week that temporarily extinguishes your light, remember that “We are stars wrapped in skin. The light you are seeking has always been within,” as the famous poet Rumi once wrote.

Let the fog pass. Your inner light is still burning—trust it to return.
