The Garden Could Sure Use Some Weeding This Week! Purge & Cleanse

astromommy.substack.com

Happy Sunday evening, friends!

The big theme for this week is: Purge & Cleanse

As we head into this week, with the Venus opposition to Pluto coming in on Monday night into Tuesday—a few different scenarios came into my mind:  the trenches during wartime; cleaning out a clogged toilet; vomiting after drinking too much—all of which are about purging and cleansing and being better off for it in the end (Venus/Pluto—bringing back the beauty and harmony after the catharsis of the ugly).

Mercury is in Virgo, so we are called to be of service to others during this time and get down in the trenches and deal with all the yucky stuff that needs to be tidied, or else people start having problems with their feet.  Trenchfoot, anyone?

The word “debridement” is also a good one for this week. Debridement is a medical procedure for treating a wound in the skin. You have to thoroughly clean the wound, and then remove all dead, infected, and foreign material from the area, in order to facilitate healing. There’s even a type of Maggot debridement where special maggots are placed onto the wound and they eat all the dead tissue and actually secrete chemicals that help with healing! Gross, but effective.

None of these images screamed “Inspirational!” or “Inspiring!” to me, so…we’re going to talk about…gardening.

With gardening, the metaphors still make sense and if we need to clean out the compost bin, people don’t get freaked out too much, right?!

Now, some people’s lives may feel like the war trenches right now, and other people’s may feel like a garden, bursting with fruits and veggies, and weeds!  So, we’re going to use the latter to illustrate this week’s transits, because I think it will resonate with more people.

So, let’s dig in…to…the Astrology.

5-Day Weekly Forecast: Monday-Friday, August 8-12, 2022

Monday 8/8/22

The theme for Monday is: Getting Down To Business!

It’s August and your tomatoes are hopping!  Pumping out fruit after succulent fruit, but next to them in the dirt, there are many other plants hopping too!  The weeds!  Now, I have tried to identify all the weeds in my yard with my handy-dandy plant ID app (Picture This-really great app for identifying plants), but there’s always one more that I haven’t ever looked up that pops up!

This Monday it’s all about getting out there in the garden of your life and beginning to pull up those weeds.  You’re going to get dirty, sweaty, and stinky!  You may come in contact with lots of “bugs” or “spiders” that crawl over your feet or graze your hand for a second or two.

There won’t be any gloves, so your tender skin will be exposed as you dig and pull, twist and turn, and try to cleanse and purge your garden of the plants you don’t want there.

With the Moon in Capricorn, you will be getting down to business, purging your garden of unwanted residents.

We may all be feeling this on Monday—the need to get things done and the pressure that is building that feels like, if we don’t do it now, it’s going to get out of control.

The transits: The Moon is in Capricorn; Sun trine Chiron; Sun beginning to square the nodes; Venus opposes Pluto by the evening.

Tuesday 8/9/22

The theme for Tuesday is: What Can You Realistically Do?

You’ve been working all night long in your garden, weeding.  Tossing fallen and rotting fruit into the compost bin, picking tomato worms and Japanese beetles off your precious plants, and now it’s time to sit down and take a rest.

As the Sun peeks over the horizon, casting light and shadows across your landscape, you are able to see what you’ve accomplished, and what you still need to do.

There’s a lot, and you’re tired, hot, and a bit shaky because you haven’t eaten in several hours.  It’s time to be realistic about how much more energy you are willing to spend before you need to go inside, take a shower, and sleep.

You really want to finish all the weeding before you stop, but you have to come to terms with the fact that you may not be able to keep going without injuring yourself.

This is where you will have to admit that you care about your garden, but be realistic about your ability to be effective with the energy that you have left at the moment.

The kids will be up soon, and you need to be refreshed. You decide to go inside and take a shower, clean up, and take a nap.

We may all be feeling this on Tuesday—exhausted, emotionally spent, frustrated at all the tasks we need to do, and knowing that we need to keep serving in some way in order to be the hero of our own story.  Be realistic with your efforts and make sure that you fill your cup back up before caring for others, so that you can be at your best.

The transits:  The Moon is in Capricorn; Mars semisquare Jupiter; Mercury quincunx Jupiter; Venus opposite Pluto exact; and the Sun is getting closer to perfecting the square to the Nodes and Uranus.

Wednesday 8/10/22

The theme for Wednesday is:  Integrating Others

Today is all about getting your family to help out.  You need to integrate your network of people to help you clear up all the weeds you pulled out, turn the compost, and water the garden.  Everyone will have a task.

The problem is that some of your family members don’t want to actually garden with you.  This could be frustrating, but at least you’ll be able to see who is on the same page as you, and who is not.

A lot can still be done with the people that want to contribute, and it’s easier to have helpers that want to be there, instead of trying to cattle prod people into action.

There is pressure to get all of the gardening tasks done because tomorrow is the Full Moon party, and traditionally when gardening by the Moon phases, there are to be no gardening activities during a Full Moon.

The transits:  The Moon moves into Aquarius, culminating towards the Full Moon tomorrow; Sun squares the Nodes.

Thursday 8/11/22

The theme for Thursday is: Responsibilities For The Party

It’s a Full Moon tonight and you have a get-together planned with family and friends, roasting marshmallows over your fire pit, while gazing at the Full Moon.

There’s a lot to be done before the party.  You feel restless and anxious for everything to go according to plan.  What could go wrong?

First, the dog poops in the house and that needs to be cleaned up.  Second, the baby draws on the bathroom wall and that needs to be washed off. Third, you start to feel a headache coming on but try to sweep it aside as you run around doing busy work.

Finally, everything is ready and dusk falls upon your property as the guests start to arrive.  The fire in the fire pit crackles and sparks, and gives off an ambient orange glow as people gather around it, soaking up its heat and inviting smells.  Your cousin brought his guitar and starts to play.  You bring out marshmallows and roasting sticks, plus some hot chocolate to lift everyone’s spirits.

It turns out to be a great success!  Pleasant memories are made and joy is had by all.

By the end of the long night, you’re tired, and your headache is still there, but it’s only around the edges.  You clean up, put the kids to bed, and sink into a deep and restful sleep.

The transits: The Full Moon in Aquarius; Moon conjoins Saturn, Sun is beginning its opposition to Saturn; Mars sextile Neptune; Venus enters Leo; Mercury sesquiquadrate Pluto; and the Sun squares Uranus.

Friday 8/12/22

The theme for Friday is: Letting Go Of Expectations

You wake up to a sudden phone call.  Your elderly neighbor down the road had a fall yesterday and is in the hospital, and her husband needs you to take care of their animals while he goes to be with her.

Of course, you oblige. You had other plans for the day, but you’re not an asshole.  You get up, get dressed, eat breakfast, and get the kids ready and in the car to go to your neighbors.

You arrive and take care of the dogs, cats, and the two fish they have.  All seems well.

You wonder how your neighbor is doing.  You call her husband for an update and find out that she fainted and hit her head pretty badly when she fell.  The doctors are very concerned and are doing tests to see what caused the fainting spell.  The husband is beside himself with worry.  Your heart sinks as you get off the phone.  Your intuition is getting slammed with psychic energy--you know what’s going to happen, but you can’t do anything about it.

You take the kids back home and do some art with them—at least some painting can take your mind off your neighbor for a little bit.

You look out the window at the garden and realize that there are so many fruits and veggies to pick!  You get the kids cleaned up and give each one a basket.

It’s time to pick some tomatoes, zucchini, herbs, and green beans!  Everyone helps and has a good time, getting sweaty in the sun, harvesting.

You get a call from your neighbor after dinner, his wife has passed away suddenly.  The doctor’s found a brain bleed that caused the fainting spell and after the fall, there was nothing they could do to stop it.

You agree to watch the animals for as long as he needs.  You get off the phone and have a good long cry.  Your children hear you crying and come in to see what’s the matter.  You tell them, and they hug you tightly.  You hug your children back and fall asleep with them in your arms all curled up in your bed, counting your blessings.

The transits:  The Moon goes into Pisces after conjoining Saturn.  The Sun begins its opposition to Saturn and is still square the Nodes.  Mars approaches Algol and a trine to Pluto.

There could be really intense happenings this week, as well as really joyous ones.  I hope the ups and downs leave you feeling mostly up.

I hope this weekly forecast is helpful!

See you all Monday, for the regular daily horoscope.
