I wrote the whole horoscope below, first, but now that I’ve had the morning to process all the energies and synthesize them together, I wanted to offer up an analogy before we get into the nitty-gritty details of the transits.
This is what came to me:
We have been caught in a storm and this week the seas have been really rough. The wind has been blowing really hard. We can feel the boat shaking beneath our feet and we can hear the wood creaking as the waves and wind pound against the hull. We feel as if any moment the boat could break, shattering to pieces in the storm. So, we hang on, our knuckles white with exertion, grasping the railing for dear life. The clouds have been so black and tumultuous, churning and rumbling— it’s hard to imagine them dissipating.
This feels chaotic, scary, and life-threatening. What we don’t see is that above the clouds and the storm, is a bright and beautiful blue sky with a shining sun!
The storm is about to change; the Sun is about to break through—we are in the transition. We can’t see the change yet, but we can smell it. The hairs on our skin are reacting to it, somehow the winds have started to change course. We intuitively know that storms do not last forever. We know we must keep holding on because eventually there will be peaceful seas and blue skies again. We just have to get through it.
That’s where we are—in transition—the last phase before the pushing phase in childbirth, the phase where you feel like your legs are going to pop off and you can’t go on and you’re going to die—the phase where women usually throw up—that’s where we are.
But, it will be over. The clouds will part, the sun will shine, and a beautiful rainbow will appear! The baby will be pushed out, take its first breath, and make its first beautiful cry! You’ll get to hold them close to your breast, and experience one of the most amazing moments in your whole life. Joy is on the horizon!
So, don’t give up. This phase is scary and hard, but there is an end to it--just don’t give up.
Now, for the astrology…
Well, we have the Sun in Cancer, still in that opposition to Pluto in Capricorn, and the Moon hits that 27th degree of Aries, making a T-Square to them at 8:41 am ET (literally within four minutes from now, when I am writing this horoscope). This is EXTREME energy!
Now that the Moon is going to be so intimately involved with this opposition, we will all feel it more in our personal lives today than we did yesterday, and it could be EXTREME. Our circumstances will be in flux. The storm is not over quite yet. We are still caught up in it and now we are even more emotionally involved.
The Moon, at 2:22 PM ET, moves into Taurus. Today is a transition day where we start out the day with the energy to get things going, now that we can, but by the afternoon it will be about how to keep things going. Our focus will shift from “starting” to “maintaining” and we will want to do it in the most stable of ways.
In the garden, it’s like going from “planting the seeds” to “watering and weeding” –those activities that keep the plants healthy and happy.
It’s also a nice time to get in touch with your body. Pay attention to your senses and pamper yourself a little bit. Take a bath, drink some soothing tea, brush your hair, and/or do these things for other people you care about! These little gestures that show we care mean a lot. Show yourself and others that you care today. Hug someone. Everyone may need it.
Mercury is now in Leo (ingressed yesterday) so the desire to have fun while learning, collecting information, or talking with people is strong. Enjoy this energy. Speak from your heart. Let yourself laugh and have fun!
Laughter is contagious and it’s advantageous, ha ha ha ha, ha ha ha!
As they say, “Laughter is the best medicine.”
Venus in Cancer is in a semisquare with Uranus in Taurus today. This will bring up emotional tension, annoyances, and the feeling that we need to make a bold move in matters of love, relationships, money, or even our social life in order to make the changes that can bring more happiness.
Mars is also at 10 degrees of Taurus, the same degree as the Solar Eclipse in April of this year. So, this Eclipse is being activated by the Mars energy: a willingness to be a martyr for our lives, fighting for our values and the physical things that we want in our realities.
That eclipse was also during a Jupiter/Venus conjunction in Pisces (that started their synodic cycle) and was also within only a few degrees of Neptune. We are heading towards the first square between them now, coming up on July 25th, just two days before Jupiter goes retrograde.
What this means is that whatever intentions we set, back in April, are now at the place where we will be able to take action— organizing things in a way that will overcome the obstacles that have presented themselves thus far.
The square energy brings action and movement, so think back to what you were doing, thinking about, or praying about during that eclipse. Those dreams, thoughts, and prayers are being activated now, and over the next week or so something will shift in regards to them.
This is not a scary transit, quite the opposite, in my opinion. It’s like the two benefics have been conspiring together about the gifts they want to bring you and pretty soon they will be able to deliver them. Your hard work will start to pay off!
The card for the day is:
26 Second House~Owning
I barely shuffled and this card jumped out at me! This is such an auspicious card after what we’ve been talking about!
This card is about money and our possessions; how we make, spend, and manage them. It also represents intangible assets like our self-esteem, personal values, and talents.
It brings up things that we own and, how we own up to things. The second house is ruled by Taurus (interesting, since the Moon is going into Taurus today!) and symbolizes that through hard work and patience, we may reap a big harvest.
I feel like this is a propitious card and is a confirmation that all the effort we’ve put into things will be rewarded. We need to remember to embody the positive Taurean traits of diligence, patience, and following through on our commitments, and watch out for less desirable ones like stubbornness, inflexibility, or slovenly behaviors.
“Wealth is the ability to truly experience life.” –Henry David Thoreau
I hope this horoscope and card reading are helpful!
