Without further ado, here is the daily horoscope.
Good evening, friends!
Today, we went to the store to buy some things for Thanksgiving next week, and while we were out, I saw the half-moon high up in the sky. She was illuminated on the left-hand side and stuck out of the blue sky like a cookie covered in powdered sugar.
The wind was icy today, and we clung to our jackets with tight grips as we walked in and out of the stores.
It feels like just last week, the days were in the low 70s, but now, Winter is riding in on waves of wind that cut through your clothes like icicle swords.
At one of the stores, I noticed a book titled “The History of Astrology” at the checkout, and I wanted to pick it up and take a look inside, but I resisted. I loved seeing it, though. It reminded me of buying “Star Scrolls” at the checkout when I was a kid and looking up my most favorable days and worst days for love in the little rolled piece of paper. I often wonder how astrologers make those types of horoscopes—printed out like that for the masses. Or how does an astrology website produce your horoscope in just a few minutes? I know that there is obviously a computer program behind it all, but I still wonder exactly how these things are produced. And now, with the help of AI, the ultimate assistant to the modern astrologer, how will we know if what we are reading was from a human or not?
I have asked Chat GPT quite a lot of astrological questions for fun in recent months just to see how much astrological knowledge it has access to, and I have been amazed by the accuracy of its answers. I even asked it which sign it would be if it had a zodiac sign (it said Gemini, of course! Ha ha!) But, I have to say that when I asked it if it could analyze a natal chart it made some mistakes. It said that it could read a chart as long as I gave it all the necessary data points, and so I did, but then when it was delineating the chart, it got messed up and started saying weird things that were wrong because it forgot which house contained which planet, it was like it forgot what it had analyzed before—it couldn’t keep the “tapestry” straight, so to speak, and it twisted it, and turned it, making a weird picture.
I used to be worried that A.I. would eliminate the use of astrologers, but after that experience, I realized that Astrologers are still needed, even with A.I., because a good astrologer can keep the “tapestry” straight and can remember what they already said and how it all fits together. Plus, nothing can deliver that warm-hearted “human” experience like a warm-hearted human.
Okay, let’s get into….the astrology

Third Quarter Moon in Virgo
The Moon will reach her Third Quarter phase today, Friday, November 22, 2024, at 8:27 pm ET and will be at 01°Virgo 14’.
The Third Quarter Moon phase marks a time of mindful action. Whatever conscious actions you take could be due to a calamity in your life that you need to respond to, or they could be because of the need to break away from a situation by taking action. Whatever it is, it could feel really big and dramatic, or it could be something mundane and easily forgotten, but the archetype is the same and no less divine in either manifestation.
Today I shopped for the holiday next week. Seems pretty mundane to me.
Let’s take a look at the chart for this Third Quarter Moon in Virgo.
You can see the Moon in Virgo at the bottom of the chart, making a square to the Sun in Sagittarius on the right side of the chart at about the 4 o’clock position.
The Moon in Virgo is down-to-earth and practical. We could feel inspired to clean our houses, fold loads of laundry, or go grocery shopping ( 😊).
I’m not kidding; when the moon is in Virgo, I almost always feel like scrubbing my toilets, organizing my kitchen cabinets, or doing something very methodical, detail-oriented, and analytical—for instance, this morning, I spent about two hours calculating every solar return from my birth year to now and then I made a graph of all the signs and years so that I could see how often I had a solar return ascendant in a certain sign, and you know what I found out!? Every sign repeats in a cycle of 3, divided by four years, and then stops for 33 years and then repeats (except for one sign, which only repeats once every 33 years!)…so, I’m serious, Virgo moon can bring about super nerdy stuff.
Now, you might say, but Monica, the Moon hadn’t even entered Virgo yet, and I totally understand, but the Moon has a very big orb. The ancients believed that the Moon had an orb of influence that reached 15° ahead of herself and 15° behind herself, so, as the Moon approached Virgo, she was already influencing the Virgo archetype and any planets therein in a persons natal chart. All the planets have orbs, and in ancient astrology, they all had different orbs; the Sun was said to have a 30° orb! We don’t usually use all of the different orbs in modern astrology, and it varies from astrologer to astrologer how big of an orb each planet gets. In Hellenistic astrology, I was taught to use the 3° orb of engagement/separation, but I think this is to keep it simple. I do believe that the different planets actually have different-sized orbs of influence, and the Moon, due to her speed and proximity to the Earth, has a wide orb.
Anyway…
Mini-Horoscopes
When the Moon gets to the Third Quarter phase in her cycle it is a time when we are redefining the intentions that we set during the New Moon, three weeks prior. It’s symbolic of a time in the month when you are taking stock of what you already have, re-imagining it, and turning it into something new and long-lasting.
So, what are you re-imagining? What are you tidying up? What are you re-organizing? What are you analyzing? These are the types of questions you may be asking yourself during this phase of the Moon.
Briefly, below you will find the house that this Third Quarter Moon in Virgo is occurring in, according to your rising sign. Find your rising and read the house topics associated with it. You may notice a shift or a deeper focus involving one or more of those topics.
Aries — sixth house of stress, health issues, employees or co-workers, and pets. This moon phase forms a quincunx to your Ascendant and can feel odd or discordant and may actually push you to do something like housework or cleaning that you’ve been putting off.
Taurus — fifth house of pregnancy, children, creativity, and recreational activities. This moon phase forms a trine to your Ascendant and could feel really inspiring and fun.
Gemini — fourth house of family, roots, and property. This moon phase forms a square to your Ascendant and can get you to take action on your priorities around the house.
Cancer — third house of siblings, communication, and local travel. This moon phase forms a sextile to your Ascendant and can bring in fun opportunities for you to do things locally or with siblings.
Leo — second house of money and possessions. This moon phase forms a semi-sextile to your Ascendant, and you may not notice anything in particular unless you have planets in your second house. On the other hand, this Third Quarter Moon in Virgo could inspire some financial tidying or bank or account maintenance. You could also find yourself getting rid of unneeded clothes or other possessions at this time.
Virgo — first house of self, health, and character. This moon phase may inspire you to do something with your body or your environment that you’ve been wanting to do for a while.
Libra — twelfth house of blind spots, large animals, hidden enemies, and mental health. This moon phase forms a semi-sextile to your Ascendant and can bring up hidden self-criticisms. Be kind to yourself and practice positive mental health.
Scorpio — eleventh house of friends, allies, groups, and wishes. This moon phase forms a sextile to your Ascendant, and you may find that you are tying up loose ends with friends or groups that you are associated with, closing out a period or a shared experience. Remember to exchange emails and social media handles.
Sagittarius — tenth house of career, praxis, and the mother. This moon phase forms a square to your Ascendant and could challenge you in some way to take action in your career or by making changes to what you do on a daily basis that supports your well-being.
Capricorn — ninth house of foreign travel, higher education, and beliefs. This moon phase forms a trine to your Ascendant, and you may feel very uplifted and inspired when it comes to education or the way in which you are processing the world right now. Or you could be making the final preparations for upcoming travel.
Aquarius — eighth house of shared resources, inheritance, debt, and death. This moon phase forms a quincunx to your Ascendant and this could feel very odd, discordant, or like it just doesn’t pertain to you. But is that true, or are there areas of your finances that could use a little tidying, especially the ones you share with others?
Pisces — seventh house of marriage, partnerships, and legal matters. This moon phase forms an opposition to your Ascendant, and this could mean that you make a decision about something or someone, and it could be like finally turning a new page or entering a new agreement, but—it could also be something that creates some strife and regret, due to the nature of the opposition and with Neptune and Saturn in your first house as well, this means there could be some fog and consequences. Since we are dealing with a Virgo Moon, whatever you decide to clean, tidy, or reorganize, just make sure you have permission to do so, k? ;)
I wish you all a Happy Third Quarter Moon!
The Tarot Card
Let’s see what the cards have to say…
What is the guidance for today’s Third Quarter Moon?
XII The Hanged Man
On this card, we see a man hanging upside down from a wooden beam. The man, in this position, is looking at the world from a completely different point of view, and in this artwork, he looks like he is trying to figure something out with the rope. His right foot, representing his logical side, is bound to the tree, and his left foot, which represents his intuition, is crossing his right leg, forming a cross. The cross represents matter. His right hand is behind his back, and his left hand holds the rope. He is reaching up with his head, activating his abdominal muscles.
In the Tarot Journal that I am working on, I’d like to share the delineation for this card in the upright position:
The Hanged Man is about pausing and looking at your situation from a new perspective. So, this card is first a reminder to take a break and try to see things from a different point of view.
Secondly, this card indicates surrender. Surrendering to the natural flow of events and that includes the organic time-outs. If we try to push things through with force when we are supposed to be taking a breather, the Universe will push back in the form of delays, setbacks, and obstacles—we’ll feel like we are swimming upstream. So, this card is a reminder to surrender to the natural ebb and flow of life.
Thirdly, this card symbolizes letting go of the way in which we thought our life should look and allowing the truth or the reality to be what it is. By letting go of our expectations, we are better able to practice acceptance and gratitude for the actual reality and realize that we are exactly where we should be right now.
Thinking about this card and the Third Quarter Moon in Virgo, I feel it is a reminder to look at everything with fresh eyes even though we are nearing the end of the cycle with something. It’s time to turn the jewel of our lives or the particular situation and see what we can see from a different point of view. How does it look from this perspective? How about this one? What do you notice when you do this? Jot down your reflections because you may find something amazing that you didn’t expect!
I would love to hear from you in the comments.
I hope this is helpful!
