Okay, let’s get into…the astrology
Tonight is the Full Moon in Scorpio!
I saw the moon last night at dusk and she looked full and beautiful like a sand dollar shining through clear blue water. It is always so magical to see her at any time, but there’s something comforting about when I see her before dark.
Today the Moon enters Scorpio at 11:19 am ET, the sign of her fall. Within a few hours, she will square Pluto in Aquarius bringing up honest feelings that we have to face and take action on. This could mean we have a hard conversation with someone about something previously hidden or we have the need, desire, or primal craving for something that may be taboo in some way. The Moon in Scorpio is concerned with her primal desires and Pluto in Aquarius is looking to transform our resources in some way that will create a solution and it may be a forced transformation or an irrevocable change that ultimately will lead to something powerful.
The Moon governs our emotions, feelings, the things in our lives that fluctuate, and everything that comes to be and passes away.
I often refer to the Moon in the sign of her fall, Scorpio, as that time of the month when we take a swim through the “Emotion Ocean.”
Below is an excerpt from the post, “Time To Take A Walk On The Bottom Of The Ocean,” where I first broke it down:
The Moon is in fall in Scorpio and that means that it’s time to take a trip through the “emotion ocean.” I think of the water sign moons as travelers of what I call, the “emotion ocean” and each element has a different way of crossing the ocean of emotions.
The earth signs have wooden ships that they can use to sail across, this gives them the luxury of looking at the beautiful water, but they don’t have to touch it.
The fire signs dance across the tops of the waves like lightning in a storm, creating steam and a dazzling show that you can’t ignore and that can also get scary at times.
The air signs fly high above the waves, detached and carefree, catching the chitter-chatter of the birds as they swoop by and the laughter that bubbles up from the froth.
The water signs are IN the water.
The water signs have to swim through the waves to get anywhere and oftentimes they have to sink all the way down to the bottom of the “emotion ocean” and make their journey from there--at the bottom.
Walking in the ocean is hard work—the pressure from the water creates strong resistance and the currents can push, pull, suck, and spin you all around. It can be really confusing. It can be really dark and scary. It can also be beautiful.
Sometimes the ocean is shallow and we can see the circle of light that marks the surface, helping to guide us along. But other times the ocean is so deep that all we see is darkness surrounding us and we have to use our intuition to guide us through.
When the moon is in her fall, we are at the bottom of the ocean, pushing against the current and the strong forces that wish to spin us into chaos. There is fear here and that’s why sometimes it’s easier to hide, like a Scorpion hides under a rock, than to power through with courage. The Scorpio Moon is vulnerable and therefore defensive and protective.
Full Moon in Scorpio
So, today, as the Moon will be opposing the Sun in Taurus at 7:48 pm ET, we may go through a celebration of some sort or an ending.
The Full Moon is a time when the intentions you set during the New Moon two weeks ago, which happened to be the Solar Eclipse in Aries, have come to a peak point or a culmination. It can also signify endings, as often when something comes to its highest point of creation, the next part of the cycle is the deconstruction process and this may be even more noticeable with a Scorpio Full Moon, as Scorpio season is in the middle of fall in the Northern Hemisphere and represents death, decay, and letting go.
The Moon has reached her fullest potential and now she will begin to wane, losing light as she approaches the next New Moon in Taurus in two weeks on May 7, 2024.
You can see in the chart above the opposition between the Sun and the Moon, the Moon on the left rising, and the Sun on the right, setting. Mercury retrograde in Aries approaches the North Node as he will hit that point and then station retrograde in two days time on April 25, 2024. So, we are coming to the end of the Mercury retrograde during this Full Moon, this means that what we have been taking our time to think about over the last three weeks, we have come to a decision or almost come to a decision and we are about to implement the new plan. Things are coming into focus mentally.
Mars in Pisces is applying to Neptune in Pisces and this could mean that there is a physical hurdle to get through before we really feel in control and ready to forge ahead! Staying spiritually grounded and physically healthy by reducing our stress levels is indicated in this chart.
Prepare yourself for a wave of emotion as the Moon will soon be making a trine to Saturn, Mars, and Neptune, while in Scorpio which could feel a bit like at first we are in control of our emotions and our actions are in alignment, and then the dam is broken, dissolved, and all the emotions start to spill out—these could be either pleasant or unpleasant, it just depends on your situation and natal chart. It could be like a gush of love, compassion, or music, or it could be like a really good, healing cry.
So, this day could be a day for celebration and/or endings and it may be followed by a wave of emotions.
Here are some questions to ponder during this Full Moon:
What are you celebrating today? What are you ending? What has reached its fullest potential? What do you desire and what do you already have? Which archetype fits your life right now?
