Okay, let’s get into… the astrology
Friday should be very interesting…
The Moon is in Gemini on Friday and we start the day off with the Moon in a favorable and harmonious trine to Mercury. This transit, in my opinion, will color the whole day. Friday will be a day of conversations and renegotiations; ideas and thoughts going back and forth. Since the Moon, in Mundane astrology represents the people, I think we will hear about many talks in the news, the one that especially comes to my mind is the current negotiations that are going on between the train workers, the train companies, and the government right now. I don’t know all the details, but what I do know is that the train workers are not happy with their current circumstances and have made some demands— and have even declared an ultimatum: if those demands are not met by Friday— that’s today— then they are going on strike! Apparently, in a late-night session, the President presented a deal that will avert the strike, at least for several weeks, according to a news article by Reuters. The Unions still need to vote on the proposed deal.
So, this energy is flavoring the day—lots of debates, dialogues, and proposed ideas coming through, and all in the midst of a Mercury retrograde, it could be hard to come to a workable decision.
Most of the day will feel like ideas and solutions are flowing so rapidly into the mainstream that it’s actually hard to catch one and make it stick!
Mars and Venus will perfect their square at 2:48 pm ET, so this is yet another space where tensions are on the rise. It’s like Mars wants to keep the current structure and believes he is in the right, and Venus wants things to change; she feels it’s time to make revisions, and so she tries to communicate her needs, desires, and wants, to Mars. Will he hear her? Will he have compassion for her?
Maybe Mercury can shed some light on this situation?
Mercury is getting closer and closer to re-opposing Jupiter, but with the favorable trine to the Moon that started the day off, Mercury can bring an idea to the table that Jupiter can’t refuse. Or, they will find themselves in a stand-off; each planet feeling like they are making compromises, and that it would be nice if the other party could just join in on their way of thinking.
Mercury has needs and is willing to negotiate with Jupiter, but if Mercury doesn’t get his way, it could be a time of revolutionary action.
So, let me put this in perspective with the train workers’ situation, which fits this transit so nicely…
The train workers have needs and demands, and if they are not met, then they threaten to go on strike. Our government, understanding the gravity of this threat, worked through the night trying to find a solution— since transportation of goods via trains is an important artery in our country’s infrastructure, and a train strike would represent a serious emergency situation!
I cast a horary on Wednesday asking if the train workers would go on strike and it seemed pretty clear in the Horary that they were not afraid to and were feeling very revolutionary, based on an imminent conjunction from the Moon to Uranus, but if and when was a bit harder to tell—it seemed that a train strike depended upon whether or not a compromise between the opposing parties, (Mercury and Jupiter, in the Horary), could be struck. We now know that the deadline imposed by the train workers will have to be extended because of the President’s deal, but will the Unions accept this deal? Only time will tell. What I did gather, from the Horary, is that it will be at least 2-3 units of time, either weeks or months, before a real solution is found.
I will be watching this story and making notes on my Horary chart, as I am using this situation/question as a teaching tool.
Either way, there could be a disruption in the normal train operations which would fit the Mercury retrograde energy so well, so just be aware that this is going on and a train strike is still on the table if this new deal is not accepted. Hopefully, it will be.
Not only is there a Mars/Venus square and a Mercury opposite Jupiter transit in the works, but the Sun and Neptune perfect their opposition tonight at 6:20 pm, ET.
Sun opposite Neptune on a grand scale could be seen as the reality of a situation vs. the ideal dream or fantasy about a situation. There could be people in authority that see things a certain way and want to tell it like it is and there could be the opposite—people wanting to impose an ideal, impossible solution. So, it’s once again, a day of deliberations, revisions, trying to get people to see things from your perspective, and trying to get everyone on the same page. One side will have to make uncomfortable compromises, which will it be?
On a more personal note, the Sun opposite Neptune could be felt as a feeling of loss, confusion, or chaos, surrounding an important person in your life, or a feeling of being deceived. On a positive note, this transit could bring about compassion, heightened sensitivities, or spiritual illuminations. Where in your life this transit may be felt, largely depends upon your Natal chart configuration.
And then we have the double YOD that I spoke about yesterday. Because both of these YOD’s involve one planet, either Mars or Venus, the asteroid, Chiron, and the South Node (which is neither a planet nor an asteroid, but an eclipse point), I feel that these two YODs are just adding energy to the square between Venus and Mars, resulting in an underlying trigger point, a tender spot, an old wound, or some sort of grudge that’s being brought up. So, if the Venus and Mars square is representing a lover’s spat, for example, then perhaps one person brings up some old issue and throws it into the mix, or an old temptation comes back from the past that one has to face. Whatever it is, choose wisely.
By the evening, the Moon will conjoin Mars at 14 degrees Gemini, and square Venus, so we should see some sort of action taken that hopefully attempts to solve all the issues at hand.
So…like I said, today should be interesting— the whole weekend, really!
Let’s move on to the card for the day:
The Card for the day is:
4 of Cups
The guy in this card looks so bored, doesn’t he? He is sitting beneath a tree, looking at three full cups in front of him and he doesn’t even notice the popcorn hand appearing out of thin air trying to hand him a fourth cup! It’s like he’s so lost in thought or something, that he doesn’t see the magic or the abundance, right before him! His arms are crossed, symbolizing that he is not happy about whatever he is thinking or feeling.
Interesting…we talked about this card yesterday, as part of The Emperor Constellation and in that spread, the 4 of Cups represents someone who has enough emotional abundance that they can handle the responsibilities of leadership, they are wanting nothing more—but as the card for the day, I feel it is representing a feeling of discontent.
It seems that it’s not about feeling emotional lack, but of being disappointed with what one has. I am reminded of this interesting phenomenon that happened with my kids, involving Pop Tarts…
Pop Tarts are a loved treat in my house. My kids love them and let’s be real, I do too! I call them a “treat” because they are not a staple. We do not buy them all the time. But, a few years ago, the store that my husband was managing closed down and they had to liquidate all of their inventory, and so we got a ton of food at a really great discount—we stocked up on a bunch of items and ended up with tons of boxes of Pop Tarts! At first, my children were ecstatic, and happily ate, at least one Pop Tart per day, for days and days, but eventually, something strange happened—they got sick and tired of eating Pop Tarts! What was once novel and exciting, became standard and a bore. Pop Tarts had lost their appeal.
Has something in your life become dull? Lost its appeal, or has the “honeymoon phase” worn off? When this happens, just like with the Pop Tarts situation, we are faced with a dilemma: do we keep eating the Pop Tarts because that’s what we have? Or do we go buy different food? There may be a feeling of settling or “making do” with what you’ve got that needs to be explored. What kind of moral dilemma is coming up for you right now?
Let me know if this reading resonates with you in the comments!
I hope this is helpful!

Amtrak has announced that it has suspended all of its long trips, including all of the popular cross country and coastal routes. This means that thousands of people will be laid off and lose their income while the train strike is settled. This also means that Amtrak will lose millions if not billions of dollars in revenue because of the strike. This is great misfortune for all.
