Without further ado, here is the daily horoscope.
Good morning, friends!
Well, this is an exciting weekend because Venus stations direct on Sunday at 9:20 pm ET. I spent the better half of this morning, combing back over the predictions I made back in July about what this Venus retrograde would entail and bring up. It was a really fun and illuminating exercise and so that is what we are going to do for the first part of this weekend’s post and then we’ll take a look at the play-by-play transits.
Venus stations direct on Sunday, but there could still be some last-minute Venus retrograde things that transpire over the weekend, especially since we also have Jupiter who is basically stopped, only moving 24 seconds of arc per day and about to station retrograde on Monday, September 4th, 2023, right after he engages in a trine from Mercury in Virgo retrograde--so it feels a bit like we are playing freeze-dance this weekend—with Venus stopped and Jupiter stopped and five other planets all retrograde! It’s like the music has been paused and we’re all frozen mid-dance move, only our eyes looking around at each other, trying to see if anyone will lose their balance and hoping that we don’t lose ours! Why did we decide to hop right at that moment when the music went silent and now, we are stuck balancing on one leg??? It may feel like that, like we are hovering in mid-air, mid-motion, mid-thought, waiting for the beat to return, and the melody to carry us away once more—at least to allow our standing leg some rest!
Okay, let’s get into… the astrology
So before we get into the specific transits for the weekend, let’s do the exercise I talked about.
What we are going to do is take a look at what was predicted for the Venus retrograde in Leo and see what applies to our own experiences.
I am going to walk you all through this exercise using my own life and chart as an example and then you can go ahead and do this exercise on your own whenever is convenient for you. Here is a link to the Venus in Leo retrograde Horoscopes for All 12 signs newsletter for your reference. This is an exercise that my teacher, Adam Elenbaas often does on his YouTube channel. I find it really valuable and I hope you will too!
So, Venus stationed retrograde in Leo on July 22, 2023, at 28°Leo 36’ (which I’d like to interject was in an exact trine to my natal Venus in Sagittarius at 28°Sag 04’).
Here is what I predicted, in general, for this transit, written in bold/italics, followed by what I experienced in plain text and within parentheses:
What can we expect from a Venus retrograde? We can expect, first, a reevaluation and reassessment of our relationships in general; our own feelings of self-worth and beauty; and our own ability to shine brightly and uniquely in some Venusian area of our lives.
Venus is the planet associated with love, beauty, sensuality, sexuality, aesthetics, fashion, the arts, happiness, joy, affection, and all things romantic and involving courtship and mating. She also represents the finer things in life like money, jewels, great food, and anything elegant, as well as social gatherings, parties, and enjoyable experiences.
Venus in Leo combines all of the above with the Leo archetype, which is ruled by the Sun and exhibits solar traits such as shining like a star, performative, dramatic, and theatrical displays, regality, uniqueness, being on-stage, laughter, love, and a child-like attitude toward life.
(I definitely experienced some reassessments in my relationship with my husband, of which, I won’t go into the personal details, but what I can share is that we made some changes that we feel positive about in regard to our communication with each other.
I also, surprisingly, had the urge to go back over my wardrobe and personal style—I even went so far as to take a new style test called the Kibbe Body Type Test and found out new and exciting things about my body type and personal style that I can apply to my wardrobe! This really relates to the Venusian topics of fashion, beauty, and aesthetics.
Another thing that I was working on during this transit was ballroom dancing! I recently started ballroom dancing again and so that is something that was, and still is, a focus right now and I feel really engenders the ‘Venus in Leo’ archetype of being performative, dramatic, and theatrical in a very Venusian way! During the retrograde, specifically, I took a few private lessons and had to reevaluate my finances and budget surrounding the cost of this new source of pleasure.)
Moving on to the specific house in my chart that the Venus Retrograde was moving through:
During this retrograde we may all discover more of what, who, and how we love, and the area of your chart that Venus is going retrograde through will highlight the areas, topics, and types of relationships that will most likely be experiencing the spotlight.
I have a Gemini rising and here is the horoscope I wrote for Gemini:
Venus will station retrograde in Leo in your 3rd house of siblings, community, neighborhood, daily route, routine, rituals, and communication, shining a bright light on those areas of your life. You may go through a period of reevaluating or reassessing your daily rituals, habits, and forms of communication. If you are a writer, what you write and your writing routine may go through a period of revision. You may experience the return of siblings, neighbors, or community members. There could be the return of a habit that you actually loved doing and that served you in some way before that you are resurrecting during this transit. Venus square Uranus and Jupiter from your third house of siblings to your twelfth house of mental health could represent an old habit or behavior returning out of the blue- hopefully a positive one! Like a long-forgotten hairbrush, like a long-forgotten morning ritual, or like a long-forgotten favorite song, the love of something routine and easily dismissed as mundane, may reappear, settling into your lap like a cat on a winter’s day, to warm you once more.
(The topics related to my third house that were highlighted during this retrograde were siblings, daily route and routine, rituals, communication, and writing.
My sister and brother both visited me during this Venus retrograde.
My daily routine and route did experience a change as I have recently been gifted a car by my sister and because of this was able to drive myself to dance classes, take the kids to the community swimming pool, and do little mundane things like errands. I was also able to drive to the many places we went to while my siblings were visiting enabling the many pleasant memories made!
Because I write a daily horoscope, my writing schedule had to change during this retrograde period to accommodate the need to prepare for the upcoming homeschool year—the third house also has to do with elementary education and so the third house signifies elementary teachers and that is what I teach at home!
I also went through feelings of reevaluating the way in which I write the daily horoscope, the style, and the theme, and tried out a few different things during the retrograde, but I am happy to be returning to my regular schedule and way of writing the daily horoscopes, although I do feel a change is needed and on the horizon! Just a heads up! More about that in future posts.
An old habit that was reawakened during this retrograde was that of the thrift store cycle—the donating of clothes and items to the thrift store and the whole process that this entails: decluttering your home, purging, going through your old clothes (and keeping things based on your new style!), etc…and then transporting these items to the thrift store (third house of local travel) and then going shopping at the thrift store to buy new/used items.
Before my sister and her kids came to visit, I took a load of donations to the thrift store. Then my sister took me and the kids shopping at the thrift store when she was here, something I had not done in years and didn’t know we were going to do, and it rekindled an old flame that I really used to love! I love the treasure hunt of looking for that one magical item at the thrift store that you need to fill a hole in your wardrobe or light up the dark corner in your home—I missed this experience and I didn’t realize how much! So, I am in the process of decluttering and purging to make room for future treasure hunts at the thrift store!
Another thing that has returned recently is homeschooling and I didn’t expect to be so excited to start school with my kids but I am really loving the routine, the schedule, the curriculum choices, all the reading, and everything that goes along with homeschooling! I feel that I definitely take the blessing of being able to homeschool my kids for granted sometimes and it gets put into the mundane category of the daily grind and domestic duties. I am definitely guilty of feeling this way at the end of the school year and really need the summer break to get excited about teaching again. So, I am happy to report that I am really excited about this school year and have enjoyed the transition this past week. It does feel like a “cozy cat has settled into my lap and is warming me once more,” who knew?)
Well, I hope you have enjoyed this exercise and will take the time to go back through your experiences and maybe journal what happened that fits the Venus in Leo retrograde themes.
Okay, let’s get into the weekend report!
