Good morning, friends!
Here is my disclaimer regarding this post: I am a student of astrology and this is my first delineation of an Aries Ingress Chart, so it is more for research purposes and practicing than predicting from a place of experience. Please take what I say with a grain of salt. I will be watching what happens this year and comparing it to my delineation in order to learn more about my craft. Astrology is not an exact science and I am sure that I will get a few things wrong and hopefully a few things right. So, this next part is “for entertainment purposes only.”

2023 Aries Ingress Chart For The United States
We can look at the Aries ingress chart for a country and make inferences about how that year will go based on that chart, sort of like a birth chart for the new year.
Below is the 2023 Aries Ingress chart for the United States. The Sun will ingress into Aries on March 20, 2023, at 5:24:14 pm.
You can see the Sun at 00°Aries 00’ in the upper right, located in the 8th house of shared resources, debt, and death. This represents that this next year for the United States will be focused on the resources that it shares with others, how much debt there is, and the death or transformation of the country’s identity.
The Sun in Mundane Astrology represents the soul, the mission, and the person in the greatest seat of power within a country, in this case, the President.
The 8th house also signifies the binding contracts that a country has with others, so we could see alliances changing. The Sun is co-present in Aries in the 8th house with Mercury, Chiron, and Jupiter, indicating that there will be large amounts of monies exchanged through commerce and pioneering efforts, as well as expanding debt, and again, a possible identity crisis.
The Moon is in Pisces in the 7th house of legal matters and represents the people in Mundane Astrology. She is in her balsamic phase, waning and losing light, so there is a sense that the people of the United States are in a letting go phase, maybe in a bit of a panic emotionally, and the majority of people could possibly feel like they are in a fog, or are being kept in the dark about the real happenings of the country—and this can be seen by the Moon applying to Neptune in Pisces, representing deception and illusion. The Moon is the ruler of the 11th house of friends, alliances, and the fulfillment of wishes, so this is another indication that the people may be feeling hopeful, but in a fog.
Saturn is also in Pisces co-present with the Moon and Neptune in the 7th house indicating that there could be a lot of legal activity for the nation this year. Saturn represents old structures and buildings, wise or knowledgeable authority figures, and things deep in the earth like mines. Saturn also represents restriction, boundaries, and limitations. Putting all of this together, we could have new responsibilities surrounding our old structures, buildings, and infrastructure—this could be good and could indicate repair and maintenance, or this could indicate that there is some sort of issue that forces the repair and maintenance of structures. Saturn being in a water sign could indicate that water damage is involved.
In terms of wise and knowledgeable authority figures, Saturn in Pisces could mean that there is a new commitment to faith by these authority figures. Or this could indicate a changing of the guard—as the Sun is in the 8th house of death and Saturn is in the 7th house of open enemies, this could mean a transition of who is in charge or a restriction on our enemies.
Because Saturn can represent mines, tunnels, crypts, or any sort of subterranean structure or old buildings there may be water or flooding of these structures or fights over water—indicated by the applying trine from the malefic Mars in Gemini (debates over water/resources), but in the bound of Saturn and soon to ingress into Cancer. So, it feels like some sort of destruction caused by water damage or water scarcity—too much or too little water.
Pluto is in this chart’s 5th house of pleasures, recreation, and the birth rate of a country and is at the final degrees of Capricorn, imminently about to ingress into the sign of Aquarius and into the 6th house of stress and sickness. This tells me that there will be a major transformation surrounding the health of the country and the birth rate.
The Ascendant of the Aries ingress chart is Virgo ruled by Mercury and Mercury is in Aries in the 8th house—what this tells me is that the character of the United States will be going through a change this year in its identity, especially surrounding commerce and trade, because Mercury rules commerce and trade and Aries is all about identity and action. The 8th house, as I said earlier, is about debt, other people’s money, death, and also fear and anxiety. The Ascendant is a very important degree in traditional astrology and speaks to the character, health, and environment of the native.
Mars is in Gemini in the 10th house of career and public image and is about to ingress into the sign of Cancer, its fall. Mars rules the third house of communication and the 8th house of shared resources—this could indicate a fall in how we rely on others for support, globally and locally. I feel that this also indicates something major about how we communicate with one another—going from a more mental, quick, and debit-like attitude, to a more whiney, emotional, poor-me attitude. But, Mars is still in the 10th house in this chart which feels like The USA is fighting to keep its title. Mercury rules the 10th house and as I said before, Mercury is located in the 8th house in Aries, indicating a change in identity. There is fear and anguish surrounding this change (the 8th house being one of fear and anguish of the mind).
Finally, Venus and Uranus are both in Taurus, Venus conjunct the North Node, and all three are in the 9th house of foreign relations, higher education, travel, and belief systems. This could indicate something shocking and surprising in one or all of those areas. With Venus conjunct the North Node and in her home sign of Taurus, though, I feel that this may be a positive reinforcement. The only thing that seems to counter this is that after Pluto moves into Aquarius, it will be applying to square Venus and the North Node, but will go retrograde before that aspect is exact—so there could be a sort of preview of a coming change to education, foreign travel, foreign relations, or religious areas, but it won’t take effect immediately. There will be some sort of positive reinforcement in these areas though that may come as a surprise!
Last, but not least, the IC, the end of the matter, is in the sign of Sagittarius, the ruler being Jupiter currently in Aries in the 8th house—this feels like big money, big debts, an expanding housing market, and a big change in identity will be the outcome of the year—this placement just seems to reinforce everything else seen in the chart already.
Below is the United States birth chart for the signing of the Declaration of Independence with the Aries ingress chart on the outside.
The United States Declaration of Independence “Natal” chart is on the inside and the Aries Ingress Chart for 2023 is on the outside. Chart generated using Solar Fire.
Briefly, the Sun’s ingress happens every year in the USA’s 4th house, indicating a renewal of the nation’s roots and foundation of freedom and a fighting, pioneering spirit. With the Sun and Mercury both straddling the IC of the birth chart, this tells me that this is going to be a significant year where the fight for freedom, independence, and the core values that built this country will be a major part of the agenda.
With Chiron and Jupiter also in the 4th house, I feel that this means that there is a wound to heal in the identity and the ancestral roots of this nation, but with Jupiter there bringing aid and benefit, this looks positive.
Jupiter is expansive and righteous and so there may be an overzealousness to charge forth and fight for freedom and autonomy, being that Jupiter is in Aries, a Mars-ruled sign, but there could be resistance by an authoritarian figure deep within the country’s legal system. This is shown by Jupiter in Aries being opposed by the USA’s natal Saturn in Libra in the 10th house of authority and public standing.
Saturn in Libra, exalted and in the 10th house, speaks of a high court of law that thinks it knows what’s best for the country and is in direct opposition to the free-spirited Jupiter who wants freedom and liberty. (This is very interesting.)
The United States birth chart has a Sagittarius Ascendant, which is Jupiter-ruled and so this is like the authority figures of the United States are in direct opposition to the actual character of the nation. (Weird.)
Let’s talk about Mars…
The United States birth chart is a diurnal chart and thus Mars is the malefic most likely to cause the most issues. Natally Mars is in the 7th house of legal matters, open enemies, and relationships, and in Mundane astrology: war. This makes sense. So, transiting Mars just passed over the USA’s natal Mars and is about to enter his fall in Cancer and then pass over the USA’s natal Venus (values, women, and money), Jupiter (expansion, wealth, and aristocrats), the Sun (spirit, ambitions, authority figures), and finally Mercury (communications, mental acumen, commerce, travel). This could mean some pretty intense things for the country that involve struggle, strife, and conflicts concerning the nation’s values, women’s rights, aristocrats, trade relations, merchants, and people in power.
Finally, I think it’s interesting that the IC of the Aries ingress chart, indicating the roots and the end of the matter, is in the malefic 12th house of self-undoing in the USA’s natal chart. Opposite that the MC, the point indicating the public image of the nation is in the 6th house of stress, servitude, and sickness—it’s like the public image of the country is sick or seriously stressed and the root of the issue could be something that the nation is doing behind closed doors or because of a hidden enemy. Because the Sun in Aries is hugging the 4th house cusp, this self-undoing could have to do with poor leadership, for the Sun is exalted in Aries and an exalted planet is like an "arrogant, haughty man."1
So, this year looks very pivotal for the United States.
Something I forgot to mention was that transiting Pluto will make a partile conjunction to the United States’ natal Pluto again, in September 2023, something it did last year as well. This is a big deal since Pluto takes so long to orbit the Sun and only returns to a natal position approximately every 245-248 years or so. If you’d like to read about the United States Pluto return from last year, which happened on July 11, 2022, I wrote about it in this post:
Thanks for nerding out with me! I hope you enjoyed this delineation.
Until tomorrow,
