Without further ado, here is the daily horoscope.
Good morning, friends!
Last year every time Mercury went retrograde we had truck troubles and this year, Mercury enters shadow today, and two days ago our truck broke down again! Could this be an indication of what’s to come this year? What I find really interesting is that our truck stalled right in front of the mechanics shop closest to our house! Mercury retrogrades are classically associated with machine and technology issues, and yes, troubles with automobiles, buses, trains, and even bicycles are common too. So, this should be interesting, from an astrological perspective anyway, LOL!
Okay, let’s get into… the astrology
As I said, today Mercury enters its shadow period at 8:02 am ET when he reaches the degree to which he will retrograde back to of 5° Taurus 51’ during its next retrograde cycle. So, the next couple of weeks marks a time when we start to see glimpses of what’s to come during the retrograde. Mercury will station retrograde on April 21, 2023, at 15°Taurus 36’, two days after the Hybrid Solar Eclipse at 29° of Aries.
Mercury will also enter into a partile sextile to Mars today, once it reaches 6°. This transit will be exact on Saturday.
Venus is forming a sextile to Neptune today at 1:57 pm when they both reach 25° 57’ of Taurus and Pisces, respectively.
And the Moon is in the midst of forming trines to Saturn this morning and then to Mars in the afternoon, while in the middle she will be conjoining the South Node in Scorpio, thus opposing the North Node in Taurus and Mercury.
So, there is a lot of harmonious energy today that can be utilized, as well as some hard aspects that may underline our motivations, so, let’s look at these events in chronological order to see how the story may unfold. But, just as a reminder, depending upon your own natal chart placements, you may experience these influences in an order that is different than what I’m about to lay out.
Early this morning at 2:29 am ET the Moon moved into Scorpio, the sign of her fall, and still within the via combusta range of 15° Libra to 15°Scorpio1. This in and of itself is a touchy, edgy place for the Moon to be. It can be an emotional place where we are sifting through deep thoughts, feelings, and desires, but it is also a guarded and secretive place where we’d rather hide in order to feel safe than leave ourselves out in the open to be vulnerable and seen as prey for others. We want people to keep away when the Moon is in Scorpio, so we may lash out or assume a defensive posture.
Right after her ingress, the Moon forms a square to Pluto in Aquarius, bringing out the yucky deep stuff we don’t always want to explore and rummage through, yet we can’t help ourselves, like a warthog at the dump. Moon/Pluto in a hard square aspect to each other can be painful and represent a crisis point where transformation takes place, but it’s often the ugly, messy kind. Hidden truths are revealed, in the refuse of our souls, to be reborn into a more authentic expression of what’s real.
This morning, at 8:43 am ET, the Moon forms a trine to Saturn in Pisces when she reaches 03°Scorpio 22’. This could represent some serious feelings but on the more constructive side. After her hard aspect with Pluto, this trine with Saturn reminds me of the classic scene in the movie Sixteen Candles, where Sam (Samantha) is upset about the boy she likes because she feels like he doesn’t know she exists, right, and there’s this sweet moment when her father comforts and consoles her and they have a really good talk and she feels better afterward. So, this transit could represent a fatherly figure or an older, wiser person coming to comfort and console.
At 9:52 am the Moon conjoins the South Node in Scorpio, intensifying her fears of failure, loss, and discontent. This is an important moment to not give up. There may be things we want and need in life that are hard to get right now, and the feelings, anxieties, and fears about the future can be really heavy, but there is always a silver lining right? There’s always a lesson to be learned, a self-reflection to be made, or a thread of hope to hold onto. The next two weeks are a really good time to focus on what you are building in your life that is positive—focus on the North Node in Taurus attributes of creating, constructing, building, nourishing, etc…so, don’t give up.
At 1:52 pm ET the Moon in Scorpio perfects an opposition to Mercury in Taurus, now in that partile sextile to Mars in Cancer that I mentioned, and so this is a moment of decision. At some point today or over the weekend you may have to make a decision between something Mercurial, something that’s in your head, and something lunar, something in your body—or between your thoughts and your feelings—there may be a decisive moment where you are figuring out what you need to be building, creating, and constructing in a logical and rational way, vs. what you feel about the situation. And with these two planets being personal planets that both have to do with our environments and circumstances this could be a really important decision. So, be aware of these archetypal energies at play today.
Then Venus in Taurus forms a perfect sextile to Neptune in Pisces at 1:57 pm ET, and this represents good fortune in things Neptunian like music, art, theatre, dance, etc…so, it can indicate really pleasant experiences, good food, uplifting interactions, spiritual inspirations, and creative dreams. This energy will permeate the weekend and last until Monday when Venus separates from the three degrees of engagement with Neptune so this is a really nice transit to have on a holiday weekend! We can use this harmonious energy to have a good time creating things and beautifying things that contribute to our futures in a positive way.
Then at 2:42 pm the Moon forms a trine to Mars in Cancer and this represents passion, desire, and energy flowing easily and without hindrance, and because Mars is in the Moon’s sign and the Moon is in Mars’s sign (traditionally Mars ruled Scorpio), there’s a mutual reception that makes this a constructive harmonious aspect rather than a destructive and challenging one. This is what you want with Mars, right, you want to harness the drive and force in a way that nurtures and supports you, so this energy is very positive for getting things done that make you feel more comfortable and having the passion and drive to do so.
And finally, on Friday night at 10:38 pm ET the Moon in Scorpio forms a sesquiquadrate to Neptune in Pisces. This could mean that at the end of the day, there are things that you’ve gotten started but you have to wait for the final outcome to take place. Waiting can be frustrating, so just have patience, your dreams are coming.

6 The Lovers
On this card, as described by Brigit Esselmont, best-selling author of Everyday Tarot and founder of BiddyTarot.com, we see “a naked man and woman standing beneath the angel, Raphael, whose name means ‘God heals’ and represents both physical and emotional healing. The angel blesses the man and woman and reminds them of their union with the Divine.
The couple stands in a beautiful, fertile landscape, reminiscent of the Garden of Eden. Behind the woman stands a tall apple tree, with a snake winding its way up the trunk. The serpent and apple tree represent the temptation of sensual pleasures that may take one’s focus away from the Divine. Behind the man is a tree of flames, which represents passion, the primary concern of the man. The twelve flames suggest the twelve zodiac signs, the symbol of time and eternity. The man looks to the woman, who watches the angel, showing the path of the conscious to the subconscious to the super-conscious, or from physical desire to emotional needs to spiritual concerns.
The volcanic mountain in the background is rather phallic and represents the eruption of passion that happens when man and woman meet in full frontal nudity.” (Biddytarot, 2022)2
The Lovers card represents a beautiful romantic relationship that is built on open communication, a cosmic connection, and raw honesty. It can also represent having choices to make between what you believe, value, or desire and what you don’t.
The Lovers card is also about unifying the dual natures of our psyche, our feminine, introverted, and receptive sides with our masculine, extroverted, and outgoing sides —bringing two things together that are on opposite ends of the spectrum in a way that creates something whole and beautiful from which love can flow freely.
I think this is a very interesting card to pull on a day when Venus and Neptune are forming a harmonious aspect because it reinforces that there is an opportunity for love, divine connection, or an idealized romantic situation. This could also be a love affair with art, music, poetry, theatre, or food; any of the creative outlets for the Venusian and Neptunian energy.
As the card for the day, I believe this is saying that we have a choice this weekend to use this amazing energy to create beautiful things, relationships, and experiences, and if we choose to use the energy in a constructive and harmonious way, sacred flowers will bloom.
