Okay, let’s get into…the astrology
Well, today the Sun will be moving from 9° Taurus to 10°. Jupiter and Uranus are both still in Taurus and have separated by one and a half degrees, still within their 3°range of engagement and delivering surprising, shocking, and exciting blessings together!
Venus ingressed into Taurus, her home sign, early this morning at 7:31 am ET. “You love slipping into something more comfortable,” are astrologer Christopher Renstrom’s opening words for “Venus in Taurus” in his book The Cosmic Calendar: Using Astrology to Get in Sync with your Best Life (2020)1, and I couldn’t agree with him more!
Venus is at home in Taurus and thus she is comfortable to do as she pleases, when she pleases, and with whom she pleases. Her private life is casual, down-to-earth, and friendly. She is the love goddess in all her beauty and boy do we behold her beauty! She has full power to deliver the destiny that is in her charge such as friendship, romance, pleasure, good times, good food, good sleep, and anything of high value and quality, like money, jewels, clothing, accessories, etc… Renstrom describes Venus as “astrology’s perfume” because she attracts people to you, like how the scent and color of a flower attracts the bee and the butterfly. Everyone’s astrological “scent” is unique and therefore attracts other “astrological charts that align with [theirs]” (2020, page 136).
Whatever house Taurus rules in your natal chart will be getting a value boost while the Goddess of Love is moving through. She joins the Sun, Jupiter, and Uranus, bringing more joy, pleasure, beauty, and good fortune. The Sun is all about your personal identity and ambitions. Jupiter is bringing in luck, expansion, and hope, and Uranus is throwing in a bit of chaos to keep it exciting! Venus joining the party is like a glittery filter being applied to the photo, she just makes everything more beautiful, attractive, and inviting. She softens all the hard edges and kisses all the tender boo-boos with love and affection. She’s like the ultimate cosmic “PhotoShop.”
Now…for the potentially more challenging aspect going on…Mars conjunct Neptune.
Mars conjoined Neptune today at 12:30 am ET. This energy permeated the whole weekend and will remain in effect for the next 24 hours until Mars moves into his home sign of Aries tomorrow. Most of what I remember from my studies about this combination focuses on the shadow side because Mars and Neptune together represent aggressive force coupled with deception, anger with illusion, and violence with loss. Mars represents action, drive, and our ego. Neptune symbolizes fog, and disillusionment, and is called the “Universal Solvent,” because he dissolves the boundaries set by Saturn. When these two aspect each other we see things happen in our lives like people driving drunk, getting ill, or being deceived in some way, but I recently witnessed an experience during this conjunction that was positive, so I went searching for other meanings to this powerful pair.
I found a wealth of deeply insightful passages in astrologer Renn Butler’s book The Archetypal Univers: Astrological Patterns in Human Culture, thought, Emotion and Dreams (2020)2. “Spiritual and creative vitality, magnetic warmth and charisma,” is how Renn describes the principles of Mars and Neptune combining. Additionally, he says, “A gentle and sensitive strength, gifts of compassionate action and enlightened non-action.” This was so moving to me given the experience I witnessed that it left a deep impression of the soulful and dare I say, nourishing element of this often cast-down combination. I, myself, have spoken of this combination in a depressive way, warning of deception, possible violence, and toxicity—don’t get me wrong, those things can and do happen, but it is not always the case, nothing in astrology is absolute. Maybe it is because Mars is in Pisces, a sign that dilutes Mars’ universal significations of aggression and anger into slow healing modes, like how Tai Chi, a Martial Art, is a gentle, moving meditation. Coupled with Neptune “Tai Chi Mars” gets even slower, like someone practicing Tai Chi in the water. With the added resistance I would expect one would have to move with even more intention and grace, going with the flow when possible, and using the force of the water to achieve their goals. I would also imagine that if you put Mars into the water, you would instantly make a hot tub to soak your tired soul in, and boy would I love that right about now! Is it possible for Mars to provide a soothing, healing, and spiritually revitalizing hot spring experience? I think so.
We’ve all been through a lot and could use a little respite. Mars is at the final degree of Pisces and the last degree of the zodiac, so it’s important to hold onto our faith and believe that good things are possible in this world.
Tomorrow, Mars moves into Aries, his home sign, so this is positive! On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, Venus will square Pluto which could bring up some deep emotional stuff, centering around relationships, values, and money. May looks good though, with Venus and Mars both in their home-signs, so there is a lot of positive energy in the air this week and I am very happy about that!
Let’s see what the cards have to say…
