Moon Conjoins the South Node and Squares Pluto; The King of Swords--Reversed & a Divine Message on an Oven Mitt
Daily Check-In for Friday, December 8, 2023
Good morning, friends!
My family has a tendency to walk through the house and in the wake of their boisterous energy, things just kind of fly up in the air and fall on the ground behind them! Because they are all so eager to get where they are going they fail to notice this phenomenon occurring at the time and therefore, feel no responsibility to pick anything up off the floor. This results in random items being strewn about my floors at all hours of the day and my daily sweep often collects the oddest items. One such item this morning was a Halloween oven mitt with the words, “Work your magic,” written across it.
Because I have been training myself to notice divine messages I can’t help but see this as one, and its sentiment reflected in the transits.
The Moon in Libra is applying to conjoin the South Node in approximately 6 minutes from when I am writing this at 10:24 am ET. The South Node is associated with decrease and release, but also spirituality, the subconscious, and ancestral connections. In Modern astrology, it is associated with past lives and the tools and skills that we have easily accessible within us. In Indian astrology it is the tail of the dragon and is named Ketu and represents the severed lower body of the demon who drank the elixir of immortality (you can read about the myth here), therefore Ketu is mindless and acting on impulse. I would like to challenge that sentiment because there has been recent research that has found that our digestive system acts kind of like a second brain so I do not believe that the South Node is mindless and therefore unintelligent, but it does operate differently than say, the North Node, which in Vedic astrology is the severed head of the dragon, containing the brain and mouth of the dragon, but because he has no stomach he can never get full or satiated.
So, today when the Moon conjoins the South Node it is a time of release and letting go of past trauma and karma. It can also represent, because the Moon and the node are both in Libra, a letting go of relationship issues, self-worth issues, and clearing out emotional imbalances.
After the Moon makes her contact with the Node, she is headed towards four transits, the last two are very hard.
First, a quincunx to Neptune which is direct now and this can represent a change or separation from some sort of fantasy or illusion or the feeling like boundaries are unclear or unacceptable in some way and you just can’t believe that they are there or not there or something like that.
Second, the Moon forms a semisquare to Mars which means people may get angry and throw righteous fits about what they believe should or shouldn’t be happening—Mars in Sagittarius is a zealot and a preacher on a mission and he just made contact yesterday with the fixed star Antares which Bernadette Brady simply states in her book, Brady’s Book of Fixed Stars, that Antares means, “The need to avoid obsession,” and so there could be a somewhat obsessive need or desire to try and fight for your beliefs, but with the semisquare this does not produce anything except frustration(1998)1.
Thirdly, the Moon in Libra perfects a square to Pluto in Capricorn at 8:05 pm ET which you can see in the chart below:
