Okay, let’s get into…the astrology
Over the weekend the Moon conjoined Neptune, then ingressed into Aries; met up with Mars and the North Node so that could’ve felt like being woken up by a really strong cup of coffee that gave you the jitters after a drowsy, dream-infused nap!
Not to mention that Jupiter, the gas giant, is only 1° away from a conjunction to the fixed star Algol, thought to be the most malefic star in the heavens associated with beheadings and a “strong, consuming passion,” says astrologer Bernadette Brady in Brady’s Book of Fixed Stars (1998), that “has the potential to be wonderful or, if repressed, to lead to rage or violence.”
Jupiter is a wonderous benefic that brings good fortune and blessings, but he also expands what he touches, he’s like a super powerful dose of miracle-grow; this can be troubling at times when he meets up with malefic energies such as Algol, nicknamed “the Demon Star.” Yet, Jupiter’s expansion of something that we deem “terrible” and “awful” usually brings with it something amazing and subjectively “good” that we wouldn’t have seen, done, or felt without first going through the destruction, disruption, or tragedy. Jupiter always brings with him a silver lining, so have faith.
Balsamic Moon
The Moon entered the Balsamic phase yesterday right before she conjoined Mars. The Balsamic Phase represents releasing or letting something go that we used to value or hold dear in some way and with this phase happening on top of Mars, it could’ve felt like giving yourself some sort of psychic surgery that cut the ties to old stuff you no longer need. The New Moon in Taurus tomorrow, May 7, 2024, will also be very close to Uranus and in sextile to Saturn, meaning that the new beginning could come with a twist but we have the support of a structure or a wise elder.
The Transits of Today
Early Monday the Moon in Aries met with Mercury and then Chiron, so there could’ve been some roaring emotions Sunday night or today and this energy may still color most of the day. The Moon and Mercury in Aries are loud, in-your-face types of energies, like a boy playing a bugle outside your window first thing in the morning, making an announcement. Or, heck, like a rooster waking you up with his joyful “cock-a-doodle-doo!”
At 7:47 am ET Saturn in Pisces perfects a semisquare to Pluto in Aquarius and this is interesting because it is the first octant between the two since they met up in 2020. The semi-square is a 45° angle which is half of a square, a 90° angle, which represents taking action on something that ends with a result. The semis-square on the other hand is like wanting to take action on something but it usually represents frustration, friction, and getting “No’s,” in the process. But, for this aspect to be between Saturn and Pluto, I feel like it could be like waking a sleeping dragon. You know the scene where the hero of the story is tip-toeing around the dragon’s lair looking for the princess/treasure/holy-something-or-other and accidentally kicks a rock that makes a noise, a small, but huge thunk-a-klink-lunk, tumble, skitter, clap, and the camera cuts to the eyes of the beast barely opening, the body remaining suspensefully still. This transit is the moment the eyes open…
Now, this is a very long movie between Saturn and Pluto, so no need to be fearful, as the beast won’t spring into action for another 3-4 years, but it is another development along the storyline of world events that we need to be aware of.
The Moon moves into Taurus at 5:42 pm and by 9:08 pm ET, squares Pluto retrograde. The Moon in Taurus is concerned with the good things in life and she wants everything to be the best and of the highest quality that fits her values. She is also extremely passionate and feels everything on a deeply sensual level, so when the Moon comes in contact with Pluto, it is as if we could touch the earth and feel Gaia humming beneath our hands. Everything comes through the Moon. The ancients called her orbit around the Earth the Sublunary Sphere and said that everything had to pass through this sphere to come into our awareness; this means that the movements of the Moon, what sign she is in, and how her monthly dance plays with your natal chart, dictates how we experience everything else.
Pluto in Aquarius is about resources, sustainability, new advances, and progress in science, technology (including AI), and medicine, so when the Moon taps into this immensely potent energy, she feels every potent detail—all the hairs on the back of her neck stick up, her eyes may water, her voice may become hoarse and cracky with raw emotion—it is intense and palpable. The Taurus Moon wants to nurture all of the things in this world that need nurturing and Pluto is showing her what things are the most important to focus on first and these may be hard to look at, acknowledge, and hold space for.
In our personal lives, the Moon in Taurus square Pluto in Aquarius retrograde, may bring up all of the things in your life that need some tending to, some healing, and some personalized care and attention. Where in your life have you been settling for less? Where in your life can you invest in what is more valuable to you? What stories have you been telling yourself? Are they true? Remember what I shared the other day about what Deepak Chopra1 said? I will share it again here:
If you want to know what your mind was like in the past, look at your body now. If you want to see what your body will look like in the future, look at your mind now.
This is one of the lessons that Pluto retrograde in square from the Moon in Taurus is reflecting, how the small but potent seeds of intention and thought, grow into big, amazing, and material things. Taurus is all about material things, this includes our bodies, thoughts, and emotions. Thoughts come from the firing of neurons in our brains. Feelings are a series of chemical reactions in our brains. And although, Mercury and Gemini are usually used to describe our thoughts and brain activity, Taurus, ruled by Venus, represents what is physical and experienced by our senses. So, Taurus is the physical chemicals and Gemini is the connectivity of those chemicals that innervate the body/mind connection. Or at least this is how I understand it.
So, I will say it again (as I said on May 1st), remember that your thoughts are powerful seeds that grow the trunks, branches, leaves, and flowers of who you are.
After the Moon’s square to Pluto, she then makes a semisquare to Saturn in Pisces representing a delay or setback to something the Moon is seeking. It could also represent getting turned down because of a rule, law, or inflexible elder.
At 10:26 pm ET Mercury in Aries conjoins Chiron for the last time during this cycle and it may be time to forgive and allow healing to take place. This could be about forgiving someone else or it could be about forgiving yourself. Perfectionism is hard and often leads to failure. We are all human and fail often, so if you are feeling down on yourself because of failing at something, it may be time to forgive yourself.
Let’s see what the cards have to say…
