Okay, let’s get into… the astrology
Today, we are going to go deep into this eclipse and talk about what the overall themes are, the corresponding tarot card, and then get into the horoscopes for each sign.

Within the horoscopes, I have also pulled a tarot card as a tool for each sign as we go through this eclipse energy—to try to make sense of it all in our personal lives. I’ve never done that before and I have to say, I really loved the additional information that the cards gave me for today’s horoscopes so I am really excited to share them with you all!
Hybrid Solar Eclipse In Aries
First, let’s take a look a the chart for the Hybrid Solar Eclipse at 29°Aries 50’ happening at 9:12 pm PT on the West Coast on Wednesday the 19th, or at 12:12 am ET on Thursday, April 20, 2023—, so either Wednesday night or early Thursday depending upon your time zone.
You can see the eclipse happening in Aries in the fifth house of the chart, which I cast for Washington, D.C. The Ascendant sign of this eclipse chart is Sagittarius which is the same Ascendant sign of the United States Declaration of Independence Chart, which is very compelling and puts this Hybrid Solar Eclipse in the USA’s fifth house of creative expression, recreational activities, and the country’s birth rate. So, that is just something interesting to note on a grand scale.
The dispositor, or the host, of this eclipse in Aries, is Mars, the planet of war, action, and aggression, who is in Fall in Cancer and has entered a 3-degree engagement with Chiron, a celestial body that can represent where we feel vulnerable. Mars is also located in the 8th house of debts, death, and financial investments—so, there’s an underlying feeling like we’re falling from a certain stature and there’s a crisis moment where we need to heal something. People may be feeling very vulnerable or uncomfortable right now and want to take action, but they’re soggy and wet with emotions. Especially, in the 8th house, these are going to be emotions like fear, anxiety, and/or mental anguish.
The Sun will ingress into Taurus at 4:13 am ET on Thursday the 20th and immediately be in a partile square to Pluto in Aquarius, which will perfect at 12:26 pm ET.
So, we have the eclipse representing a release, a cutting out of something or a completion, but also a new seed, a new beginning and then there is this square to Pluto right after, which, by itself is a very intense transit that represents a crisis point between something we feel is constant and enduring and something that is dying or being transformed.
Pluto is forcing an initiation or a change to our mission, our motivations, and our life force energy that requires a sacrifice and the sacrifice is not something we want to give—there could be karma around solar figures, so this symbolizes men, fathers, and prominent leaders. This is further amplified with Jupiter being so close to this eclipse, representing abundance, growth, and blessings, and having just started a new synodic cycle with the Sun. Right now, Jupiter is combust and unable to be seen, but soon, around mid-may, Jupiter will emerge as a morning star and we will get to see his rebirth in the sky. This happens to correlate with the time period following the Lunar eclipse, which is the Full Moon eclipse coming up in two weeks’ time.
So, we are letting go of an old identity as we step into a new reality and it will feel like it has been forced upon us by the Universe, but there is a silver-lining to it all.
The last degree (called the anoretic degree) of Aries is in the bounds of Saturn, and the decan of Venus, further corroborating that this is a crisis point, where we are being asked to step up and be responsible about something; to take something seriously, and it has something to do with what we are building and creating; giving birth to and nourishing, and what we find beautiful, valuable, and pleasurable and of course, because it’s Venus’s decan, it has to do with love and relationships, as well.
The Correlating Tarot Card To 29°Aries: IV of Rods
The tarot card associated with the 29th degree of Aries is the IV of Rods and it’s a card that has to do with celebrating the completion of one thing or achieving certain milestones, and the beginning of another.
On the card below from the Morgan-Greer deck, you can see the four sprouted rods, adorned with beautiful roses, ribbons, and grapes representing a celebration of something, like a marriage, and then seen through the archway created by the rods is a castle, symbolizing stability and good fortune. The idea of this card is that you are celebrating how far you’ve come and commemorating your achievements, but after the celebration, you are stepping through the threshold to the next part of the journey, which is a new beginning—so it’s both an ending and a beginning and that is what this eclipse is all about. Something ending and something beginning and both are something to celebrate.
New Moons are always about the seed of something new, but at the last degree and with the Sun’s immediate ingress into the next sign and squaring Pluto--we are getting this major transition from one thing to another that probably will be life-changing— and I say that because of the nature of eclipses, but also because of the powerful square to Pluto happening right after the Hybrid Solar Eclipse.
