The Color Green
by AstroMommy
Bam! Outside my window the color green has exploded
Every stem is covered in multitudes of leaves
Every limb has erupted with new life
Every trunk has a vine wrapping around it, lovingly like a serpent
Two weeks ago the green was topped with lavender wisteria
Dripping, almost sweeping the ground
Like a green cake with lavender frosting pouring over the edges barely touching the plate
I feel fertile too, like my backyard
A thought that has been tormenting me
Where is my guard? My Saturnian guard, blocking the union?
I feel no monthly disruption
About to take form
like the song of a nightingale
Sweetly dripping, gushing, flowing
Over each tree top
There is a hornets nest outside my window
They work busily on the hive
Building the walls
Feeding the young
The stars twinkle in the distant sky
As I ponder my youthful days
Weep about my sagging skin
The Venus rings of my neck
drooping like the vines in my backyard
“Love yourself” they say
And I’m trying and I do
But it is sometimes harder than other times to erect the emotion authentically
Twelve months, twelve zodiac signs, twelve hours, what was I doing twelve days ago, twelve months ago, twelve years ago, or when I was twelve? Does it matter? Does any of it matter?
Watching the cycles, I count
I re-count
I remember
I was a member
Feeling my femininity wax and wane
Begin and end
Breath in and breath out
The green is filling up my window
I can hardly see the brown of the ground anymore
How amazing is this color show in my backyard
It’s love
It’s prosperity
It’s fertility
Abundance
It’s a smile
With gratitude
I watch it fade in the twilight
and turn from vibrant green
to shades of gray
